So... August is quickly approaching, anyone thinking about going on the over-the-counter archery deer hunt? This will be my first year going on that hunt and I would love some tips, old huntin spots, etc. Any help is much appreciated. Hope yall are handling the heat alright

lots of archer will be hitting the woods come opening of the season. most are putting up .trail cams now.

Since we've had a very dry yr. hunting water is a must - heres where scouting and finding the seeps, springs will get you an advantage.

where are you located.

That's a good call. I'm located in Phoenix. I went up scouting last week near Flag and saw a few muleys, a bit of water, and am planning on throwing up my new trail cam in a week or two... hopefully ill have some pictures to post soon.

Knowing the area your hunting, water, terrain and such is so helpful in AZ. I moved down here 5 years ago for WA and had to relearn how to hunt. With the help of trail cams and a lot of horse back riding I have found a few good spots. If I get lucky this year I will post photos and share the stories.

Killed this spike on the over the counter hunt! It's my first kill with a bow... shot him with my Mathews Drenaline from 65 yards with an Easton carbon arrow and a Rage 100 grain broadhead.
