New to the forums, but have been a member since 2003, LM since 2004, and TLM since 2009. Former military, 11B U.S. Army 2000-2005, medically discharged due to DJD in my knees and DDD in my lower back, fancy way of saying the cartilage is worn out in those areas from humping an 100lb ruck. First duty station was Camp Giant, South Korea (2000-2001) and my second, and also last duty station was Fort Lewis, WA (2001-2005).
I've been around hunting all my life, but didn't really get the chance to get into it until I was stationed in Fort Lewis, where I met my ex-wife and her family. My ex-father-in-law was Yakima Indian and took me hunting with him on the reservation for elk. We stalk hunted and I really enjoyed it, took 2 elk, one cow (400-500lbs) and a two year old cow (200-300lbs), the weights are approximate hard to remember exact weights.
After getting out of the Army, I moved down to Alabama where my parents live and met my current wife. I've been hunting with my brother-in-laws on their land some, but haven't had much luck, of course my job and family life has restricted my hunting time so that's the main reason. You can't shoot 'em if you're not in the woods.
I don't trophy hunt, I hunt strictly for meat. This being said I will not turn down a shot at a massive buck, but I go into the woods in search of meat to put in my freezer, and does are plenty on the property, so I've been told and seen from the harvests both of my brother-in-laws bring in.
Otherwise, I'm a Mechanical Designer for a small R&D firm in Huntsville, I like to garden (vegetables), wood working, and fishing. Hoping to make some new friends on here and maybe meet up with some local hunters from my area. Always looking for a new place to hunt.
