I just bought a airedale to try hunting with i am going to be using him for squirrel and coon hunting and would like to know what age to start training him he is 3 months old right now and i have also heard storries about how mean they are and how they are hard to train i know there is good and bad dogs in all hunting dogs but any advice about my new hunting buddy would be greatly appreated thanks  |

Asap just make it fun and quit on high notes when he starts getting bored, at least what I did anyway? But I'm a novice alot more guys on here with more knowledge than I, but would at the very least start getting basic obedience down |

thinks for the help guys but maybe you need to read my last post when do i start training on coon and squirrel and what is the best way to do this i know all the comands and relly dont care about any ones whife this form is to help other people if you want to bs maybe you would bee better off at the campfire form

grew up around them..if ya aint started by now ya'll best get busy damn quick..they are a hard headed stubron breed and all want to be top dog...don't ever remember any of them being mean..but they are family loyal to the point that they would seem mean to some folks that don't got a clue...these dogs are objectivly one track minded..dual training (tree rats and coons) may end up with both of you so flustered it will be misery for both...the dog may be interested in one but not the other and it will take a lot of work to get him to do both,,if he's not interested in it...hope this helps... |

thanks guys for all the help maybe i should just stick to coon hunting him the way he is growing he is going to be a little big for squirrel and he seams lazy through the day and is always wanting to run around in the night maybe i will get a fist or cur for squirrel again thinks for the help every one best wishes and good hunting
