It has been studied and proven that it takes several times trying before most are able to completely quit. Many times people have said I quit for awhile but that is a misnomer as the word quit means to stop and never do it again. Stick with whatever helps you the most and keep at it as I said it may take a few times but you will eventually reach a point where you will finjally be able to say " I quit " and mean it.

JMT know exactly what you mean. When I came home from Nam I was smoking 4-5 packs a day. Keep your head down. May Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior watch over and care for you. Thank you for your service. Actually I know you I know that sounds funny but your the same guy who was on my right or left so many years ago in the Mekong. I know Dawg knows what I'm talking about.

Good luck! I smoked for about 40 years. Quit 5 years ago and never missed 'em one bit. Chantix worked for me.

It ain't cheap but with the price of smokes these days I guess it would be. ;-)

Hang in there!!
Due to the high cost and unavailability of ammo today do not expect to get a warning shot!!

Good luck Gut. You have to be determined you want to quit before you can. That's my problem, I haven't convinced myself yet. I've been down to a pack and a half a week for the last five years now, but just haven't been able to let em go. My bride quit three years ago.

Since Sunday I've had a rash from my neck to my knees. MD said it sounded more like a contact rash than a food related one. Doesn't itch just red splotches. She said if its not gone by Wed to contact her. I've used Nicorette before and this never happened. Wife hasn't changed laundry detergent/softener so that ain't it.

Gutpile, and other members that wants to read. I smoked for 53 yrs. tried to quit 4-6 times in the last 10 years.
This is the story: "didn't intend to quit, or wasn't thinking about it at the time. Saw this guy smoking in the mall. He had one of those E-cig. He asked me if I wanted to try one. I did; thought it was "cool". I decided to buy the kit he was selling. My wife got mad at me and nagged me about wasting my money when I had a carton at home in the shop. I told her that I had paid for the sobs and intended to smoke them. What I did, when I wanted a smoke, I alternated a real smoke with a few puffs of the E-cig.(you don't hold it in your mouth for 5-10 minutes until it is gone. I puffed on it and put it in my pocket).
To end the story, I finished the last reg. cigarette, looked at it and kissed it goodbye. That was a year and a half ago.
Bottom line: I think about them once in a while, specially when I'm mowing, fishing, or hunting; I like the smell of a fresh lit cig.(doesn't bother me if other people are smoking); can smell stale smoke at a distance(understand now what my old lady used to complain about). Have not puffed the E-cig in a couple of months. Do it "just because I have it".
I'm not selling you the bullshiot, just letting you guys know. I had been smoking since 13. Feel better, but did gain about 10 unwanted pounds(sorry, not giving up my beer or booze) .
Good luck guys

EXCELLENT! That means you're past the physical addiction part, from now on; it's a mental game. Hang in there, believe me, you'll thank yourself later!

Congrats and keep up the GOOD WORK.
It has been close to 12 years for me. Although even to this day smoking still costs me money. Every week i figure out what i would be spending on smokes. That money goes into a large coffee can. Every year i buy a new gun of my choice with my cig. money.

Gutpile: hang in there. You can do it. You are doing the right thing.
TLM: I'm doing just about the same thing but without the coffee can. I figured I'm saving about $150 a month. It's a good feeling when you buy something and just use the savings from not smoking.

At $10 a pack here, I figure I'm not spending $420 a month (pack and a half a day) Plus I can breathe without hacking fits, don't have to blow my nose constantly, actually taste things and just plain feel better. No brainer just wonder WTF took soooooo long to sink into my pea brain...
