Mu son in law has a 700 SPS new/never fired 30-06 for sale.  It is custom stocked by Wenig Custom stocks in Lincoln, Mo.  Documation from Wenig places a value of $2530 replacement cost for the stock. 50% special selection Claro walnut Right hand, fit, finish, glass bedded, floated barrel,ebony trim, #2 checkering, delux finish. Take away the high dollar stock and you have a less than $600.00 dollar rifle. Anyone lookinf for a 700 SPS without the high dollar stock can by one NIB for under $600.00 so why would anyone pay what he is asking simply because he has the stock made and installed ? Any " custom " firearm " is hard to sell unless you can find the one person looking for that particular " custom " modification. Tell him to put it back into the original stock and he can sell it for $500.00 and sell it quickyl otherwise he is not gonna sell it anytime soon if ever. Simply advice from someone who both owns and builds custom firearms. Those stocks are way overpriced irregardless of the wood used to produce it.
