I know when you think of a good breed of dog to hunt this isn't the first to come to mind. I'm asking if anyone has used them to hunt and had a good one. I've only seen one "hunt" before but he just ran around with his head in the air not finding any birds. I'm mostly asking because I'm in Afghanistan and found out my sun is allergic to dogs and we had to get rid of ours(not a big lose to me). So I'm asking because when I get back I will be looking for a good hunting dog/family pet(most importantly the later). If you can help any advice would be great.

First off, thanks for serving!

Stoopid question though, if you son is allergic to dogs, why are you considering another one?

Thank you

They breed the poodle with other breeds to control the dander, it is kind of like a allergy friendly dog

I'm looking for anything about the labradoodle the good the bad and the ulgy(not just its appearance)

Ah, gotcha. I don't see anyone else popping up with opinions but hopefully some folks have experience with the breed. I've heard of them but never had one.

In theory, they should be excellent. Labs are notorious and poodles were bred specifically for hunting so maybe it comes down to the training?

Although, we had several German Shorthairs and Weimaraners and most of them were very good dogs but we had one Weimaraner who was apparently a mutant or something 'cause all that pooch wanted to do was hunt apples! The dunce would actually go on point at 'em.... I thought it was pretty funny... my Dad didn't share that sentiment. ;-)

Good luck, hopefully someone on here knows.
