I will be moving to Dallas TX area in a few months and was looking at the hunting regs, Looks like your bow season is from Oct to first part of Nov, am I reading that right? When does your rut kick in? Thanks

Bow season is from the frist full weeked Oct to the first full weekend of Nov when gun (general season) opens, of coarse you can bow hunt during general. The What "Rut" you say. Depends on the weather, maybe the end of Oct first of Nov. Sept is Dove season a lot of shooting then, In Oct many start really working on stands, feeders, camps an such so more activity in the woods, There are camps that look like cities. So most of the deer come out mainly at night ,that is when most of the breeding/ activity takes place. Alot depends on how big of place you have and how many hunt around where you are.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking it would be in Dec being in the south, last year here in south Kansas the last two weeks of Nov were the best. and in Iowa the second week in Nov was pretty good.

I usually see more activity towards the end of November and through December, depending on weather conditions.

Not far from you or Basdeer there grandpops. The bachelar herds start to break up around the first of Oct. I am on the road alot at night, and start seeing more activity during that time on into Nov. It seem to depend on hunting presure, where you are and the weather has a little to do with it.

Yes we do. It was enacted in 2005 with the Castle Doctrine, simply stating that an individual does not have to retreat to safe ground when confronted with a threat to self or property at their place of residence. That was later extended to also include their vehicle, place of work, or anywhere they may lawfully be.

The following was taken from Wikipedia.com

Texas

In 2005 Texas passed House Bill 94[31] which created an exception for unlawful entry of place of residence to a 1973 statute, which required a person to retreat in the face of a criminal attack unless a "reasonable person in the actor's situation would not have retreated".[32]

In 2007 Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 378 which extends a person’s right to stand their ground beyond the home to vehicles and workplaces, allowing the reasonable use of deadly force when an intruder is:

  • Committing certain violent crimes, such as murder or sexual assault, or is attempting to commit such crimes;
  • Unlawfully trying to enter a protected place; or
  • Unlawfully trying to remove a person from a protected place.[12]

Senate Bill 378, made effective September 1, 2007, also "abolishes the duty to retreat if the defendant can show he: (1) had a right to be present at the location where deadly force was used; (2) did not provoke the person against whom deadly force was used; and (3) was not engaged in criminal activity at the time deadly force was used."[33]

LOL MW7 I geuss you are a Texan, only a Texan could be that offended, by that question. Your first post did sound kind of like you just moved to Texas. Did your Grandaddy Johnson recieve the Land as payment for serveing in the Texas Army? I seem to remember a Johnson in Taxas History.
Just as you, I and many others on severed as well, and as a fellow vet(s) thank you for your service.
No and I dont think any one here will ever mistake you for cent or trout. I'll tread lightly here, with the jokes as I think you may have taken me wrong and a bit to serious earlier.
So I take you don't dont like BO. " i....i will do my part to vote him out.Its a shame..when all of usjust want that...errrr..(lack of better words)sh@t_stabbin,a@@ goblin,dic@ smokin, butt licking, democrate outta our govt"

I rub many the wrong way sometimes, somtimes I am sorry about it, others I am not, and like here I didn't mean to. I would not mind a new friend on here and anyone on here will help you any way they can.

But with all due repect to you Sir, don't jump on me like that again( with a Kiss My Azs) unless you know there is due cause, no insult was intended nor given. I try not to insult, nor theaten any one. I as WS4 were just pulling your leg a little, it is good your are proud of your Heritage, as well as your service to this Great Nation.

Word of advice Two Tales is a vet as well, have your feelings on your sleve when you disagree with him, and come back at him like that, lets just say he is not as nice as I, he is a good guy he was in the Navy but trained Marines, he won't mind hurting your feeleres. Some folks  just don't like being told Kiss MY Azs. And I am not to sure some can not reach through the screen and grab ya.
