I've noticed that feral pigs have been in the news a lot lately.    Have any of you guys actually seen any, or any sign of any?

I haven't seen anything that would indicate that there are any in my part of Osceola county.

Just curious.

About 4 yrs ago , I shot 2 in oceana county. There was about 6 more taken within 7 miles of me. Mi dnr has a map on it's sight showing hog kills and sightings. It is wide spread problem but it looks like the hunters are slowing it down with the shoot on sight rule.

But we've had a very soft winter...everything else seems to have faired well.
I'd like to get a shot at one.

howdy frank...nice ta see ya still around

from what i understand is that we still have a problem in the state with wild hogs. there isn't a lot of them, but they are out there. i know of a couple that had been shot in barry county also. also with the shoot order on them has them moving around allot and not letting them get a big foot hold......i guess we can't relax on looking for them or we could have a lot bigger problem.

matt, me too.......

the heaviest populations are farther north Frank. (Gaylord is the hot spot I think) There has been a few sighted over by Cadillac and some over near Houghton Lake area, but I think the archery hunters have taken the better part of them out. I haven't seen or heard of any being sighted around here either.

Maybe you shoul thank the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife & Parks. They outlawed the hunting of ferrel hogs in Kansas. They hire snipers and shoot them from helicopters instead. They must be doing a good job in keeping them from spreading North.

I hunt in a county that borders Ok. I have read that they had been sighted in that county and had hopes of getting a chance at one while deer hunting, at least untill they banned hunting them. They feared that outfitters were trapping & transporting them here for that purpose. I have yet to see one and if I ever do I would take a shot, Probably not broadside though. It would be harder to use " But sir he was charging me" as a defense.
