Hello all!
I am looking for some new hunting boots for upland, field and deer season.
Specifically they must meet these 3 criteria
1. waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX. I will not consider anything else
2. 600 thinsulate or around that amount
3. approx $150 or less.

Not looking for muck boots or "rubbers".
Have used Rockys much in the past, but it seams getting harder to find anything containing gore-tex these days. And alternatives to gore-tex are not viable.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've found good boots at great prices at Sportsman's Guide, sorry don't know how to do the auto-link thing.

I've been wearing Herman Survivors for the past few years, they hold up well, are water proof and come in different levels of thinsulate insulation. I buy them at walmart when on clearance. In the past I had always worn High dollar boots, Wolverines, Timberline, Danners, but couldn't pass up trying these when they wer less than 1/2 price. I now own and wear 3 pairs and they are serving me well.

Check out BassPro Shops and their Redhead brand. I have had their zip up snake boots for several years and my only complaint is the velcro fastener at the top of the zipper lost the velcro on the right boot. Other than that, they still look brand new. They have held up better than my previous LaCrosse lace ups, and are easier to get on and off. I usually wear mine at least 3 or 4 times per week from August 15 to Jan 1, for deer season, and from March 15 to May 1 for Turkey. I also wear them during the summer months when I'm predator hunting, so they have a lot of wear on them. If and when, I have to replace them, it will be for another pair.

I personally recommend staying away from the Rocky brand of boots. My experience with them is they use inferior materials, shoddy craftsmanship, and their customer service is non-existent. I will never have another pair of Rocky boots, and I try to get the word out to as many others as I can.

I have a pair of Rocky low tops . Although they are water proof they really don't have any arch support . So ..... I guess my body adjusts to this by having my feet tip out and I wear the outside of the heels ( supinating ) . The4 shoe guy at DICKs told me the lack of arch support in the Rocky shoes causes this .........

I only own one pair of Rocky boots, but they are for casual dress and not for hardcore wear and use. After about 2 years, I don't have any complaints although I prefer my Tony Lama boots most of the time.

I second the Bass Pro Shops Red Head boots. I have a pair of regular hunting boots and the snake boots and both are superb! Very comfortable with no break in period required.
That's the only brand I'll buy from now on.

I went with some Redhead's from BPS a couple of years ago and haven't regretted it for a second.  The one's I got were waterproof and had 1000 grams of thinsulate.  They are comfortable to walk in and nice and warm for sitting on a stand.   I even got them on sale for about $60.

Unfortunatly, the only BPS around here is just a small outlet with not much for apparel.

Order them from a catalogue or from the net.  They may ship them free to the store.  Try them on, if they don't fit or if you don't like them, return them right then and there.
