Today I bought a pack of Primos turkey calls. The pack included four different calls. Two of them are sonic domes, the mini triple call and the normal double. One of the other calls is a A-frame and the other is a Cuttin Hen. I can use the mini sonic dome and the cutting hen just fine, but I have a hard time getting a good sound out of the other two. Does anybody have an idea as to what I can do to get them to work?

Practice, practice, practice.....................

The sonic Dome is built so it positions the call "correctly" in the roof of your mouth.

The "others" will begin to work for you too.................... with practice !

BTW - I learned to use a mouth call with a Sonic Dome.

Pair of scissors makes them fit me...I just buy what Wally has on sell and trim to fit...only use them to seal the deal anyway...

Im with GP on this one, ive tried almost every brand out there from the wally specials to cabelas expensive ones but ive had the best sounds and comfort with quakerboys foamfit mini mag series. It comes as a 3 pack, a double reed and 2 triple reeds with different cuts. The foam really helps to seal off any air. Like SDOWLING said youve gotta practice alot with em, a hell of alot more than youd think and like Tom said just use em for sealin the deal when you cant move to operate a box or slate. Soft and sweet has worked the best for me so practice the call at different volumes. Purrings kinda tough to get the hang of. Just remember you dont need to be a champion caller to put the smack down on a longbeard

Myself i found that the double primus call works best for me, but really its what ever one fits your mouth best you may have to trim them with scissors. I suggest sticking with the one that you get the best sound out of n practice alot. I love mouth calls I've only been turkey hunting for 4 years & I've called in 7 toms in that time only using mouth calls

I probably use a mouth call more than all my other calls combined. They are especially handy when the birds are within eyesight of you. You can call without moving and keep both hands free for your gun or bow. Just takes some practice until you are comfortable calling.

I recall one time, before we started hunting from blinds, when I was sitting at the base of a tree in a small timber, and a hen came in. I called and she called back and got closer. I argued back and forth with her for nearly 20 minutes, and most of that time she was less than 15 yards from me. She was looking all over the place trying to find the other turkey, and she was starting to get pissed that I was so mouthy to her. I think I learned the most of what I know about turkey calling that morning. That old hen was a pretty good teacher.

LMFAO!!! I can just picture that!

And you are right, Tom... that is fun! I've killed a few toms that wouldn't otherwise come to a call that way. Piss off his girlfriend, and he will likely follow her to the chick fight.
