I will be hunting some heavily pressured public lands this spring.  I was wondering on the choice of locator calls, if any.  Should I stick with the owl and crow calls. Or should I not bother considering evry other person in the county will be doing the same?  One other thing I have read is using a different call such as a Goose call for heavy pressure areas.  Any thoughts on this topic would be great.

Also this is Merriam country if thats any consolation.

I dodn't know how Miriams would react but I have found the Easterns ,when around water, will react to a duck call . My favorite being the Wood duck .

Hmmmm....never even tried a locator on Merriams.....so I have no clue.....spot and stalk or spot and call is how I killed all mine....

Thanks for the replies to this message. This is my first year going for turkey and i'm just trying to get everything in order. The season here opens on the 14th of April.

You may want to try a peacock call or silent dog whisle turkeys will respond to both those as well.

I just use a crow call, that always gets 'um gobblin'.

I have yet to get a turkey to respond to a locater call. I have tryed crow and owl.
