I'm with you dwisler1 ! ! !

I originally signed up for the North American Hunting Club with promises of magazines and free things in the mail and equipment I could test and then KEEP THAT EQUIPMENT. The only damn thing I've seen is a bogus invoice wanting me to pay for some deer book that was sent to me THAT I DID NOT ORDER!!! And where is all this EQUIPMENT that I'm supposed to be testing?????? YEAH, RIGHT!!!!! What a bunch of BOLOGNY!!!!!! Oh, another thing, the magazine. The ONLY PEOPLE that can send in photos are LIFE MEMBERS!! What's up with that SH|T??? Hell, I'm 60 yrs old. Why in God's Name would I sign up for a LIFE MEMBERSHIP at 60 yrs old?????? I'm NOT stupid! I wouldn't sign up for LIFE ANYTHING as it would probably just be a waste of money!! If I was maybe 25 or 30, yes, why not, sign up!!! But NOT AT 60!!!!!! Yet they keep HOUNDING ME FOR MY MONEY!!!! SCREW THEM!!

KrKleK, All the company promised was your monthly magazine subscription. There are and never have been any promise of free things in the mail and equipment that member's can keep. Plus, in your membership agreement you also agreed for them to send you items for preview and purchase.

What they did promise was that every member would have the opportunity to enroll for a CHANCE to receive field test items, and enter contests for members only where potential prizes could be won. When you consider that there are over 850,000 members, and only a few companies out there that are willing to give away their products, it isn't difficult to understand why some of us (who've been around since our 20's) have never received any of those freebies, or even won any of the contests. I personally am an original Charter Member, and have belonged to this organization for over 35 years. I've been a life member for over 12 years, and the picture posting is a life member benefit that I've never bothered with, but do enjoy seeing the occasional forum user's member picture.

BTW, the only freebie I've ever received was a CRKT tool, that was sent by webmaster Shawn, due to my length of membership and the fact that I've never received a test item.
Also, can you name a single organization that one can belong to, that DOES NOT continually send requests for donations, or upgrades that are designed to raise more money????????????

and 60 years old you could have 25 to 40 years of mags to read! at the going rate of 25.00 a year it is still worth a think! might be worth it, if you add in the boards here in my humble opinion you should really think about it! there are some great folks on here! drop the negitivity and meet some! you just might be surprized!!

Not too sure if I would sign up for a Life Membership or not at this stage of my life, however I did sign up in 1981 when I was much younger. I feel that getting the magazine for the past 31 years has been well worth my dues at that time. I too get irritated about the periodic un-requested calanders, books and whatever they send, but usually don't open them and just send them back. I also enjoy reading and sometimes posting on the forums, and being able to share with others of the same interests. I have through the years seen many articles in the magazine and postings on the forums that have been a great learning experience and enhancement to my hunting and shooting adventures. If you joined for freebies, you are missing a lot of the benefits of this organization. I have never received anything of much value to field test nor have I won a drawing, but like I said, it's still been worth it to me.

I was 64 when I became a life member, have not upgraded to Trophy, am happy at the level I'm at, enjoy the books I bought, sent others back at no cost to me, no big deal, now that I'm useing a computor am getting more enjoyment from the club, Maybe the club is not a bargin buy but it is worth it to me, did not know we are 850,00 strong, alot of knoledge avalible if needed, and just think of all the pota poties that would be needed if we all got together for a pancake feed!!!Man I think weare bigger than the U.S.M.C. I have no regrets but hope you start enjoying it, as for freebee's, the only thing free is enjoying the out doors and all our creators creations, but even then we have to buy fuel to get there. A bad day in the woods is better than a good day in town, & with WiFi we can have the best of both worlds!!!!!

once again i see some people complaining about not getting things free from the club. to ways you can get things free. one way is to contact the club and request a form to fill out,
to become a field tester. when it is your turn to test something, the club does send it to you and you test it, send the cub a report on how the product performed and keep the product. cost to you-(-your time ) the other way to get something free is simply not pay for anything the club sends you if you didn't order it. consider it a gift. the law says you do not have to pay for any thing you did not order. simple as that my friends. personally i have spent over $ 4000.00 on things that the club has sent me as i really enjoy the video's and the books, which ever way you look at it, there is a lot of knowledge in the videos and books not to mention all that you can learn from this forum. take what time you have left in life and enjoy the club as best as you can. good luck in the next season and be safe out there.

I don't think you have to be a Life Member to submit photos. Seems like I have seen both in some of the mags. Member photos and Life Member photos. You can also post photos here on the forums once you crop them down to size and share them with us, photos sent in to the club may or may not be published. At least here on the forums anyone interested can see them and give a response.

If the newbees would take the time to read all of the literature sent out with those items sent for review they tell you what to do to opt out and not recieve any more in the future, which is what I did several yrs ago. After doing that you would have the right to not have to pay for any item sent.

bill5, I stand by my post, and many others here will confirm my comments. Read your membership agreement!

Swamper, also in the membership agreement you agreed to have the NAHC send you items on a "try it and buy it" program. Since you signed up and gave consent, you are liable for payment for any goods you keep, go back and read the Postal Service rules, along with your membership agreement. What you suggest is stealing, plain and simple, and you can be held liable in a lawsuit for collection!!!!!!

RT4, I believe that the discrepancy between what your saying, and what Bill is saying may have to do with how NAHC is recruiting LM's these days.

Even back in 08 when I signed up they were offering an initial test item for signing up. I got a fillet knife that we use all the time. That initial test item is guaranteed by the club. After that initial test item, everything that your saying is correct.

Since I joined in 1977, all we had were our new member packages, and the same when I became a lifer in 2000. I've often wondered about the free"test items" that newbies have referred to, now I understand what some of them were posting about. The confusion comes with relating those freebies to the (now eliminated) field testing program.

The first time I joined as a regular member, all I remember getting was a couple stickers and perhaps a waterproof match holder/whistle. When I upgraded to life member, they sent me a leather LM bomber jacket, which I still have and wear, a couple more stickers, a LM belt buckle, and I believe a couple packs of seeds for a food plot.

Charter Members received the belt buckle, a zipper pull, a membership packet, a certificate (which I somehow lost), some decals, and logos that could be applied to mail or could be printed on checks. When I became a Life Member, we received another belt buckle, the leather bomber's jacket (which I wear quite often), a gun cleaning pad, the LM decals, and the very nice Life Members wooden plaque.

New Charter Members also had their names printed in the magazine each issue, and members only hunts were free, other than cost of transportation, lodging, meals, and licenses. The club lands were available to hunt on a reservation system and were self guided, unless it was a club hunt.
