Hey, I just saw the outline for the next season & was wondering what tags everyone will be going for. I hunt the Olympic Peninsula so I am applying for the Miller tag. It's a second deer permit for Archery only. I am only applying for deer this year.

Hey Guys,

Since my long time hunting group went up in smoke from people moving out of state, I'll likely just buy moose and elk points here in WA until my hunting situation settles down.

I have been invited to hunt with some friends from eastern WA, but it would have to be muzzleloader and I haven't decided if I want to go that route.  I also might hunt here on the west side without applying for any special permits, but haven't done so in years because I prefer the east side.
I may apply in Nevada for mulies and pronghorn, where one of my best friends lives.

Other than that, a few of us from here on this board are already starting our planning for WY elk in 2013.  We just need to be sure and buy preference points this year in preparation for next year's draw.

Good hunting,
Steve

I hunt modern firearm.
Like many of us I've considered looking into archery, but simply haven't done it.  I doubt I ever will at this stage of the game.

I was curious to see if you were archery for the permits you would put in for. I started out with archery for elk and rifle for deer. Now that i have done archery for a few years im not sure if i could go with a rifle. I think just having to be so close to the animals with a bow and sneaky is what got me with archery. You should check it out

Oh, Squatch just get your butt over here and hunt with us. If nothing else it will help you get in shape for Wyoming. Besides if I draw a bull tag I will need your help to pack it out again!!!

Does anyone know if applying for Elk multiseason accrues points for raffle hunts? I was not drawn for multiseason but it said i had three points. I will be putting in for special permits this year and was curious if it would show as (0) points or (3) when i apply. thanks

I am pretty sure that points only accrue in the category in which you apply. So for example if you apply for muliti season elk the points will only be good for multi season elk next year. The points will not show up in any other category. However I have never applied for multi season tags so I could be wrong.

Well I didn't get an extra deer tag but I'll be going for Elk in Eastern WA this Sept. I am Archery all the way so I can get a cow or spike. I plan on going into Naches & Bumping and would appreciate any advice, help or a hunting partner, since I have never hunted that area. I will be in Western WA for the Deer open but the following weekends I'll be on the east side looking for BIG MEAT.

I am familiar with Naches (nile unit) in particular for the late hunt. You will be able to get up much higher then we can on the early hunt but i can get you in the direction i go to.

I have a group going to Stampede Pass a few units north of where you will be. Unit 336 is where we go on the early hunt. Its nice because from the time i leave my house to the time i pull into camp 48 minutes. Youre welcome to join our group if you would like. I will be there Monday Sept 3rd through the weekend to the 9th. I will more than likely go back the following weekend to close out the season on the 16th. Last year we had elk, deer and a bear in sight while out there, we can take a shot at all of them if in range.

Happy hunting

Thanks for the offer, I'll keep it open. I will be doing alot of scouting in Aug. Looking at the harvest reports, I'll probably be closer to the Nile or Bumping units for the first weekend. I am just happy to learn a new area. I am coming from Tacoma so it's less than 2 hours away. That's reachable after work, any day. I'll touch bases with you closer to opening day. Good Luck & Happy Scouting
