Never hunted ON the plantation( I've hunted properties adjacent to it, although for deer and ducks never hogs), but I do know Joe and several of his guides and employees. You should have a very enjoyable experience. They are good folks! |

Also have some interest in the Bostic plantation. Sorry to tell you that the reviews that I have been reading were not good. Are you doing a guaranteed pig hunt? If so then you will get a pig. As these are fenced hunts with dogs.Would be interested in knowing if you are stand hunting, as to what you saw.Where are you staying? One of the reviews that I read was that the beds were in very poor condition. Also how was the food? Please post on here after you get back,or and before you go. If you are stand hunting take a bag of corn or two, I was talking to them via e-mail and they said I could bring my own corn.
good luck,

There are a couple of other places down here that you might also be interested in. Buckrun Plantation, Cypress Creek Plantation, Legacy Farms, and Broxton Bridge Plantation. All of them have internet sites, and Cypress Creek is owned and operated by Danny Harrell, who is a life member of NAHC. |

I've never paid an outfitter to hunt; however, I do know all of these guys, especially Danny at Cypress Creek, and Jimmy Polk at Legacy. All of these are within a 20 minute drive from my house, and with the exception of Broxton Bridge, all are located here in Hampton County. Broxton Bridge is just across the county line and is in Bamberg County. Years ago, I used to hunt next door to Bostic, and I've known Joe all of my life. I even played the organ and provided the music at his house warming party about 20 or so years ago when he built his new house at the plantation. |

to Joe Termite, Our plan is for the three day hunt from stands. We will be staying in the main lodge. The hunt is planned for school vacation week in April so I will let you know how we made out. Hopefully the reviews you read are wrong. I'll let you know. |

I have never personally hunted there but from all the reviews you will read if you look at places like huntnifo and contact some of them will tell you to stay as far away as you can. I also personally know someone with whom ive been friends now for about ten years that used to be associated with that place. From the stories he tells i wouldnt want anything to do with it. you could say he is just a upset ex employee but when you add his reviews of the practices there with the info from other sites it doesnt sound like somewhere id want to go. |

Funny thing is I know both of the owners and have known many of their employees for the better part of 50 years and have never heard an inkling of any thing negative about the manner in which they operate. I have heard many stories about how idiotic a lot of their clients have been, as well as how dumb some of their employees who didn't last very long were.
kkimball drop me a pm, and I'll give you my phone number. Give me a call while you're down here and maybe we can meet and greet while you're down.

I live about 40 miles from Woodbury GMA in Marion county in S.C. you can hunt hogs almost all year long there with a state hunting license season starts back in May and goes untill sometime in August I think and you can hunt them with anything but a .22 or buckshot .If you can stand the heat and mosquitoes ! |

I just got off of the phone with kkimball, and I had his trip down here confused. He's here now, and is elated with the accommodations, guides, and stands at Bostick. He and his family are meeting Travis and me for lunch tomorrow, for a face to face, and I'm really looking forward to meeting him and his family. |

Travis and I had lunch with kkimball, his wife, and two boys yesterday! We were able to learn a lot about our different states and hunting laws, and I was able to introduce them to REAL BAR-B-Q........the mustard based sauce and rice and hash!!!!!!!!!!!! |

SCALVIN, thats one thing 'bout the heat here, I grill year round, in the summer it just takes less wood since the grill is always right around 165* just from sitting in the sun, it don't take much wood to cook, its more for flavor. lol I do like to mix up a bit of preserves (what type of meat it is dictates what type fruit) and hot sauce for a bit more flavor though (so no unc. no ketchup). I've been using the chopped up Jack Daniels barrels for wood, if you haven't tried them they make excellent flavor in any meat. |

Oh man, I'll bet that smoke would add some great flavor! Probably have to be a little careful so you don't over power it but yeah, it sounds good. Not sure where I'd find any up this way but will look around.
I was just bustin' Rons chops about the sauce. I usually don't use it on my ribs though. I do serve sauce on the side if anyone wants it though.

SCALVIN. I figured thats what you were doing to rt., he needs that now and then. lol Those chips are great though I usually put a bit of whatever concoction I mixed up for sauce that day mixed with water in a cup and soak some of the chips in it to add some more flavor. The chips come in two sizes small like for a smoker box, or to sprinkle on charcoal, and larger about the size of a briquette, to use on their own, the bags both have the label that looks like a bottle of J.D. I get them here at Fries, which is a version of Kroger's, same as Publix in the south. I'd guess its Kroger there.?.?. They're not over powering except when you first open the bag. |

As of lunch yesterday, they hadn't killed anything, but had seen some turkeys, deer, yotes, coons, 'gators, and a few pigs. He will give us his full report when he gets home to Maine. BTW, they fell in love with real Southern Bar-B-Q, especially the mustard based sauce and the rice and hash!!! |
