I would like to start squirrel and crow hunting but dont eat them at least never tried them. My problem is that I shoot what I eat and can,t bring my self to just shoot them for the point of over population. I guess what i,m asking is are they good eating and what would you do in this situation? |

Squirrel is great fried (boil tender first and don't forget to remove the scent glands) can't comment on the crow I refuse to dine on carrion eaters but I keep hearing comments about having to "eat crow" so someone somewhere must have tried it . I do go crow shooting and use the wing feathers for arrow fletching so they're not commpletly useless and some state agencies used to offer a bounty on them . |

As said above squirrel is good, best par-boiled to tenderize it I mix squirrel, rabbit and other small stuff together and make pulled meat bar-b-q in the crock pot. Never literally eaten crow myself though. |

Squirrel is rather tasty if sauteed and then simmered in spaghetti sauce. I'm going to try it on the smoker this year. Don't know why I never thought of that before. Crow, don't know. |

I had some really good squirrel roasted over a campfire once . I understand crow is a hard side dish difficult to digest, normally served with big helping of humility ! ;0) |

Squirrel is good just about anyway you cook it. Soome are tough and need to be pressured. I especially like squirrel fried, then stewed in a brown gravy over rice, makes my mouth water just thinking about it. BBQ squirrel is delicious too. As for the crow, I tried it once as a kid, but really did not care for it.. I also do not kill just for the fun of shooting something, I was brought up to always eat what you kill. |

Step 1: Kill crow. Step 2: Boil crow in a pot. Step 3: Eat pot. Squirrels are great tasting though! I like mine BBQ'd or in stew. HUNT 'EM UP! |

when i was growing up my stepdad would go out and hunt squirrels all the time at his parents place. He'd load up the freezer and every sunday from january til september he would cook a few on the grill. He would usually marinate them over night and then bbq them. It was a great time.

Just to be clear... we're not talking about red squirrels, right? All those little b*stards are good for is target practice. Dang little trouble makers.... |

I miss squirrel big enough to eat. Dang squirrels here aren't any bigger than a .22 shell themselves. Useful for the tails is about all. |

I havent tried crow yet either but will as soon as I can shoot one them willey critters. So I will not knock any EDIBLE food until I tried it (yes I have eaten Balut) They are the most intelligent bird there is. If anyone would like a really good DVD on crows there is one called I believe "Murder Of Crow". If some of you didn't know a flock of crow is actually a "Murder of crows". There are some real interesting video's on youtube on them. For a lot of good info on crow hunting and recipes go to www.crowbusters.com I have heard people that have actually ate crow say it is better than pheasant. |

Remember crows can't count. I used to hunt with a buddy from a blind. After awhile the crows stopped comming. One day my buddy said he was sick of seeing nothing and left to hunt nearby cornfields. That's all it took for me to have a lap full of em come in to my setup. cbrown36 you should have made that a trivia Q. What do you call a flock of crows. Most of the oldtimers like me would have got it I think.?.? |

I've thought about doing some trivia questions but from what I've seen someone will invariably 'cheat' and google for the answer |
