That sounds good Tom. I'll be looking forward to the visit.

I had to go to VA in Shreveport today and went by and spent some time with Brian & Family.

He seems to be doing good. I had to get a new knife. He makes the best. Looks like I'm

getting well enough to go hunting. Season open on the WMA this Saturday. Lord willing, I'll be there.

Hello chrisguidryv and welcome to the boards.

I hunt Jackson-Beinville WMA in North Central Louisiana, exclusively. My advice is to choose which WMA you might be interested in and read all the regulations on hunting in that specific WMA. The rules differ from one to another but the basic state hunting regulations are the starting point.

After you choose the WMA know the reg's then look up the area on Mapquest.com or Google Earth and if necessary print you a map of the area. Then drive to the area, especially while hunters are in the woods. That lets you know where they hunt and you can be a sportsman and don't encroach on their hunting area. Yeah, I know it's public land but good sportsmen don't bother other hunters. While you are driving look at your maps and find old logging roads, skidder tracks, or houseplaces. Many times those area are easy to clear enough to make a good shooting land or you can find a tree to place your stand in. Scout the are for deer sign and recent activity.

If the area you choose seems to be overcrowded, choose another. It's not worth getting into a fuss over a hunting area when there is so much land available...you just have to find your area but also remember it's technically not yours. It's not wirth getting killed over. Be courteous, talk to other hunters in the area, be safe and good hunting.
