I hunt about 20 mi south of Wichita. I am curious as to whether others are noticing this. It seems that I am seeing more bucks than does so far this season. I have passed on 5 different bucks 6pts & spikeall inside of 25 yds and have only had 1 doe in that range. Shot under her. This past Sat. AM i counted 20 deer and only 5 were does. I watched 3 bucks follow a doe out onto sandbar and then a fourth cross river to join in. This was the largest group the rest were singles and doubles. Another hunter on same property counted 10 bucks walking along edge of woods one evening. I should be happy about the activity but in only getting 1 buck it gets frustating.

I am starting to think that the KDWP is more interested in collecting revenue from out of state trophy hunters than in managing the deer.

bpearce, here in Pa I have started seeing similar results after new deer management was put in place. From what I have heard, the higher the buck to doe ratio is, the more aggressive the bucks are during rut. It is also supposed to gradually end up with bigger and better bucks in the long run.
I hope I get to see 15 bucks in 1 day if I get transferred to Kansas!

After a year, has it gotten any better since your original post?
