I am getting into hunting. Ive been archery hunting and going bear this year.
I am very interested in upland bird hunting!
I bought a nice o/u this summer.
I live in  South Western PA. I see the game commision stocks some of the game lands around here.
There is also a few nice pheasant farms around to hunt.
Do I need a dog? Or can I hunt with out for now? I would like to get one, but, I want to get my feet wet first!
Any advise for a Newbie?

no you do not need a dog.they can be helpfull, especially to help find your bird after you shoot it but they are not necessary.as for advise, get out there and hunt-em-up.
so goes the church, so goes the nation

No you don't need a dog but it makes it alot easier. I have hunted with and without a dog and its better with a dog. If you go to a preserve most will have dogs and a guide cost a few bucks more plus tip but that maybe the best way to get your feet wet. I love upland bird hunting.
