I've been an avid whitetail hunter since I was a kid and now that I'm stationed at Fort Meade, MD, I'm looking to try hunting sika on the eastern shore of Maryland.  I've never done it before and am looking for some assistance.
I've got a few great public locations near Fort Meade, MD for whitetail, so if you can help me out with sika on the eastern shore, that'd be great.
I've gotten an application for Blackwater national refuge already, but it's a huge area and I've never even been there.
Let me know if you can help.  Thanks

Sika live in the swamps. I have hunted several areas at Blackwater and on other public land in the area and have seen sika deer in every area. The trick is climbing high in the scrawny trees so you can look down into the frag beds. You hear them coming and hope you can get a shot. if you go to the "Members Photo Album" to "Tentative Number 8 in Maryland Record Book forML Sika Deer" you can see a photo of the stag I shot at blackwater last year. Look for trails in the swamp and climb a tree, keep your eyes pealed and be ready to shoot quick. Hit them good, they are tough. This one dropped like a ton of bricks but have spend several cumulative hours looking for them in the swamp.

a little advice to sika deer hunting...they are MUCH smarter than whitetail...i killed my first stag about 2 seasons ago and haven't killed another since...i would advice a place in dorchester county called elliots island. also, worchester county has some promising public land that i haven't had the pleasure of hunting. I will tell you that once you taste sika, you will want nothing but sika.(whitetail does not compare)
