No lure will catch fish if you are fishing where there are no fish. You didn't mention where you have fished, lake, river, farm pond, creek? If you are fishing a farm pond that mainly has catfish in it then live or stink bait is needed (catfish only rarely will hit a lure). My favorite lure is a 1/8 oz. roadrunner (red, white,& chartruse). I buy the bare hook jigs that I can easily change the body style & color whether it be twin tail, curly tail etc. I use this on lakes and watersheds and have caught perch, bluegill, crappi, bass, (small & largemouth 5lbs) whitebass, waleye, and the ocassional catfish.

First you have to be fishing where the fish are hanging out wether it be in brushy cover, weed beds, face of dam, rock jetties or shore lines, holes or humps in lake, etc. depends on type of fish and body of water. There are too many variables to know why you aren't catching fish, wrong color, wrong type, wrong size, type of retrieve, too fast, too slow. Also if you are only throwing your lure where you wont get hung up or snagged might be one reason. The advantage of the roadrunner is it doesn't cost 5 bucks to loose one

Try fishing very early in the AM or late and even after dark. I use old lures called Hedden River Runt Spook Floater. I contacted Hedden years back and they wouldn' t put them back into production without a big demand. I use Hula Poppers after dark and they are very productive. The best way to catch bass after dark is to cast parralel to the bank and retrive along it. I had one bass attack so savagely that he landed on my feet, out of the water.

aaustin13,
what are you fishing for? are you in full sun or shade? is there structure(logs, old piling from bridges, old cars)? there are some products that might help with your lures(makes them brighter) the 1 i am thinking of off the top of my head is called berkley`s "fool-a-fish" this is a U/V inhancer, makes your lure look like it has a million little mirrors on it to fish! but it may be just that your fishing where the fish aren`t! do others catch them where you go? what do they use? can you use live baits(leaches, shiners, frogs) i have found these work much more than store bought lures!! that is if fished right!!! you must leave the bait alive on your hook!
there are some less than nice things you can do, i am not recomending this but i know it works for lake trout! wd40 sprayed on a worm!! the other is to puff up a worm with air using a siringe! again i am not recomending these 2! i find them to be cruel! but they do work! now i don`t know the legalities of where you live these 2 may be illeagle, so if you decide to try it check your regulations!!!!! getting caught is not worth it! you will lose your rights to hunt and fish!! so please be carefull!

I was going to say the same thing. Stick with the basics. They aren't the basics because the DON'T work.

Forget the worms.  Use a spear.
