JBW where do you live? Do deer in different areas of the country start there antler growth at different times?

McAvene, I would have to believe deer in different regions would loose and re-grow antlers at different time since they rut at different times. Here in S.E. Mn. the deer didn't loose thier antlers until several months later than normal this winter, but they started re-growing allmost immeadiatly. Here are a couple of bucks that don't seem to be getting along so we'll at one of my mineral licks.

It seems they are having a little bit of a property dispute!

went out to check some cams today and ran into this!

Ok its not a trail cam pic, but it is a big rattle snake, took the pics with my phone

sorry there is nothing in the pics for a reference, but he is bigger around than my arm! I tease him until he coiled up and rattled then I left him alone and check some cams.

We don't have many Rattlers in S.E. Mn. but, we do have a few. A guy got bit close to here last summer and it was big news, a rare event. I did get some good deer pics too! Here is a couple of deer kick boxing!

Here is a buck that is developing nicely!

and just a good pic of a buck

That boxing pic is cool! Never actually seen that behavior. As for the snake - it would have ended up fish food.....

JBW I take it you hunt private land? It seems that you have a good heard on the property that your cameras are set up on.

McAvene, I mainly hunt private land, but there is lots of public land around here also. I don't own any property, but I have permission to hunt 11 different farms. Right now I have 7 cameras out and they are on 6 different properties, thats why there are so many different deer.

Thats awesome, I only wish there was plenty of land here to hunt in Central Ma. but everything is posted and no one wants people to hunt on there property, and all the public land is way over crowded.

had 1 last cam to check today, I'm not sure if both pics are the same buck, but, there is some nice headgear developing, but the body sure looks skinny, hip bones sticking out and all. I hope its just putting its energy into antler growth right now and adds a little weight soon. Not the healthiest looking deer in the herd.

another pic, not sure if it the same deer. Antlers are branching!

If she repeats that pose for you, you may even get a game cam pic of your shot.
