I am disgusted. I joined last year. Then I ended up in the hospital for major surgery. Since recovering I discovered that I was not sent every issue. I thought, no big deal, I'll call them. The guy I spoke with in January was very nice and told me they were still available and I would receive them shortly. Well, needless to say they never came. So I called again a couple of days ago. This time I was told too bad, that basically it is my fault to begin with as I should have called the very day they didn't show up! So I am receiving none of the issues I had paid for and no other alternative compensation for it either. Thanks North American Hunting Club for stealing and then insulting me as a disabled person! |

Oh another thing that disgust me and should every paid member of this club. Why are we buying and/or receiving items that are made in third world countries? We are supposed to be so proud of Our Supposed Heritage according to all the damn paperwork advertising for these items! |

Say what you will, but I recently "Upgraded" toTLM, (Bite your tongue RT4! LOL) and just recieved their welcome/membership package. Not a quirk to be experienced in the whole process. And it all happened in less than 2 weeks. I got all the "FREE STUFF" that they said they would send, and all the rules/regulations regarding the process. The free gift was a goofy, but functional lens cleaner. (Don't know or care if I'll ever use it.) And the test product is a CRKT Pazoda 6480 pocket knife. Nice one at that. Yes, they also threw in the cheezy baseball cap and a decal. But I also have the ($20.00) gift card from Cabela's and on my way to recooping the $120.00 upgrade fee from the discounts on that card and the other stuff. RT4, if you don't get your stuff that webby promised last week, let me know. I'll send you this stuff. (But I'm keeping the Cabela's card) That being said, to each his own. I know alot of you out there respect my move and the results of such. At the same time, I know that some think it was a foolish move. But it raised no qualms between myself and the club or the members, so it obviousely can be respected by the other respecting members of the club. The newbies that complain about the "Freebies" need to learn how to enter into a contractual agreement in a knowledgeable and responsible/mature manner. That's all. |

Shootin'J, I would never criticize anyone for doing anything that they feel is a value to them. Your post is proof positive that most of these one-time posters, didn't bother to read the fine print, and signed up for all of the wrong reasons. Congrats on doing what you feel was a good decision for you, and I honestly hope that you continue to receive the benefits that TLM can offer to you! BTW, any CRKT knife is guaranteed to be of great quality, they have an excellent reputation! My reasons for not becoming a TLM, simply boil down to the fact that none of the benefits woud be of value to me, and after becoming a LM, I felt betrayed when the TLM program came out! Since I'm on disability, and living off of my mediocre Soc. Sec., I would never be able to take advantage of any of the hunting packages, guide services, etc., and I don't have a Cabela's within 500 miles of where I live ( everytime I've ordered something from them, there has been a problem, so I'm not a fan of theirs)! Here's wishing you continued success and enjoyment of your upgrade! |

Thanks RT. Here's a tidbit of info that might get some whiners to see the light on things. In my upgrade to the TLM I recieved EVERYTHING the club promised in my member packet (In less than a weeks time too.). Included was 1; The CRKT knife, a $25.00 value), 2; The $30.00 credit for maps from MY Topo Maps, and 3; A $20.00 gift certificate from Northern Tools. (Among the rest of the contents of the package) That's $75.00 back for upgrading. Which is more than 1/2 of what the dues was. And I will be recooping the balance through the Cabela's reward program that was also offered as part of the upgrade. So in the long run, I will have upgraded FOR FREE. On another note; some time ago, I was having problems receiving the monthly magazine. (Didn't get three months in a row.) I made 1 phone call to C/S and rationally explained the situation while requesting the issues be sent. They sent me the issues with no questions asked, AND also sent me a CRKT knife (worth $35.00) for my inconvenience. Havn't had any problems since. By the way, the prices on these knives are straight from the CRKT web site. So to P & M on this web site is obviousely gonna do you no good. Keep your head and patiently call/work with C/S, and you might just satisfy yourself. The money you pay for joining this club and/or upgrading your membership is no more wasted than the $1, $5, $10 or whatever amount the same P&M members squirt away (Sometimes for years) on lottery tickets that never produced a long term gain. Or gambeling on sports or any other venue. Or even playing cards. Go complain to all those entities and see what you get. The same thing you get here. ZIP! Think before you spend, and research what you are spending it on before you make hasty decisions that you will regret later. And not to mention; that you will have no one to blame in the end except yourself. Personally, I have gotten real tired of constantly reading all the complaints of (Mostly Newbie) members P & M about not getting nothin. But in the years I have been watching this board, I read little to no posts about how the members resolve their issues with the club. Folks are quick to jump on the freebies, but neglect to rationally resolve the issues that arise when things don't get handed to them AS THEY SEE IT. Or post the positive results when they do resolve something. Nuff said. |

Right on Shootin `j, my gull fren updated my membership to TLM as a Christmas gift. Got everything you did except the hat and sticker. and don`t really don`t care about that. Still have the hat I got when I first joined the club in 04. Only Cabela's around me is in MI. but I do go there one in a while ad If I remember the coupon don`t expire and I can always order online. Have already used the Northern Tool one. Did`t get a mag. for a couple months contacted the club and the sent them no problem. All the whinning is getting old. |

I am fine with my membership. Been in since 1989. I upgraded to Trophy and got the extra do-dads.
With over 800,000 members the chances to get selected as a Product Tester is there for you to do the match.
The Inside Track email looks like it has some good discounts on gear.
What attracted me initially to the magazine was the "You call th e Shots" section. New to hunting, I found them a quick visual and written outline that I could match my judgement against. Now, decades later, I still enjoy testing my judgement against the answer in that section.
So, like many I would like to be selected as a Product Tester for something really interesting but I do not fret about being selected.
Perhaps we need to turn this overall forum into a positive interesting sharing of information forum personal pecuniary interests |
