WHne I joined the club initially, I was impressed. When I became a life member, I was skeptical in spending the money, but was somewhat pleased with the 'gifts' I received and I do enjoy the magazine. I recently got a card asking to 'activate' my account, b/c they haven't heard from me. Well, after speaking on the PA hunting forum, I was all in, but now I can't find my state page and I haven't received my magazine in a few months, that I can recall. As a piad life member I feel that I shouldn't have to 'activate' anything and I wish that some of the old forums were like they were. When I have logged on to the website and clicked for the contests, I have not been a winner. I have often wondered if people really do win or if there is a bonus to becoming a winner if you donate or something. But, I like the magazine, so I keep on checking in. |

BuckSeeker those are my exact words to my wife when I got the card today. I have been a member since 1998 and became a Life member about 8 years ago at which time I thought my membership was for LIFE. I should not have to login or call to continue receiving Life Member Benefits which I have already paid for. I and many of my friends that I met on the South Carolina forum don't use the forums since The Club changed it a few years ago. We use another site and continue to meet for group hunts several times each year. |

Well I have been a member since 88 along time and this is my first forum. Like most answers I agree with just about what was said to expect something for nothing is not always the way to go. I feel it is more important to keep our tradition and passion for the sport alive and well. This is the best repayment you can get. Hunters numbers are starting to dwindle up in the North Country. The more we can get involved the better for all. Enjoy your subscription and good hunting |

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE CLUB TRY TO GET CRAZY GAME LAWS CHANGED SUCH AS THE SPOT LIGHTING LAW IN VIRGINIA THAT WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO DRIVE AT NIGHT LEGALLY, IN OTHER WORDS YOU CAN'T DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH YOUR LIGHTS ON IN A AREA USED BY DEER, EVEN AT A DEER CROSSING, YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO HAVE A GUN IN YOUR VEHICLE. GAME WARDENS ARE USING THIS LAW TO WRITE TICKETS ON LAW ABIDING SPORTSMEN. TED LIFEMEMBER

tedboy, you will never see the NAHC get involved in any sportsmens or gun issues, since it's against their policy. |

Tedboy, are you talking a spot light, or having your headlights on? If it's headlights, that's got got to rank right up with one of the stupidist things I've ever heard? |

My nephew received a ticket for "spot lighting" here in SC, when he missed a turn on the way to a friends house and swung into a pasture entrance and turned around. The game wardens searched him and his truck, and didn't find any type of gun or ammo, but charged him with shining deer, even though his turn was in a single motion without making a stop. Luckily, the judge dismissed the case. |

For Crying out loud, I remember a time when you could pull into a pasture entrance, bang your girlfriend, and the ONLY thing that might interfere with progress was the locals driving by hollering "Give er one for me boy!" I'd like to see the SC definition of spot lighting, or is it left up to interpretation? |

Evidently it's interpretative. The DNR wardens who issued Colby's ticket were on a stake out in the area, due to a spate of poaching. Since the judge threw the case out, he interpreted the law differently. |

I was a member years ago and then gave it up. I recently joined up again just to see if the club was worth it. I have only been a member this time for a couple of months. I did receive my free stuff. Cheap crap that I would not want to be out on a hunt and have to rely on. I gave my wife the double knife set, and she gave it back to me. Guess that tells me how good they are. Now I get a chance to do a life membership. THIS IS FOR THE FOLKS THAT OWNE AND OPERATE THE HUNTING CLUB. You will have to do better than you have for me to spend anymore money to be a life member. Just my opinion, but sugar coating the membership with offers, does not make it a better club to belong to. Actions speak louder than words. I am not one to jump in and out in a month, but figure I have foolishly spent more than the membership costs on other things, so I will stick it out, and see if you folks listen to your members. I see a lot of new members who from the sounds have not done much hunting before. Put out some good information like asking permission before you hunt and kill on private property. We have ground here in Idaho, and it never stops amazing me of how many hunters do not have the time to ask permission, and act like they have all the rights in the world to be on private property. I do not say NO very often unless it is a KNOW IT ALL, that insists on telling me my rights as a land owner. I do not hesitate to kick them off the mountain when I find them in the middle of a grain field, and act like it is their right to be in the middle of my field. Tell them that a weeks worth of glassing is the way most hunters have to hunt before they see anything that is worth the trouble. Tell them to be aware of their surroundings, that killing something is the easy part. Make sure you CAN or WILL BE ABLE TOO get it out. Nothing is worse for me than finding an animal with the head removed and the rest left to rot. A quiet hunter is usually a successfull hunter. If there is a rumble in the trees, make sure it is game before you pull the trigger. By just packing a gun does not make you a hunter. As for me I will stick out the membership, but won't be renewing. To all you HUNTERS keep your scope lense clean, you gun loaded, and your face to the wind. |

bmeiners, unfortunately you are preaching to the choir, since nothing posted in these forums gets the attention of anyone in a position of authority within the NAHC, unless some rat bustard hits the alert button to get the webmaster censorship bureau's attention. As for the trespassers you describe, down here, they are considered feral invasive species and fair game 24/7/365!!!!!! |

Thanks rthomas4. Things are very rural here. Nice thing is that I know most of the cops personally, so one call and that's all. The last time I called, they were one location in less than 5 minutes, and time they escorted the trespassers off the property and issued they tickets, it has been pretty quiet. |

Around here, the trespassers are probably law enforcement or their relatives, so it's a waste of time to make a phone call!!!!!!!!!!! |

At least I didn't go for the life membership on this one like I did with Handyman. After a while this wasted money will just be a bad memory. The pitch to join sounds too good to be true. You know the old saying. As for the web site, these clubs should be a familiar and comfortable place to go. Periodically they feel the need to revamp everything and members have to find out where they moved the things they didn't just lose in the change. |
|
| I think we should start calling it "The Umpire State". Lots of bad calls made by people without much vision. |

Just joined, so I really don't have a strong positive or negative opinion of NAHC yet. However, I would suggest that they pro-rate Life Membership cost. I have received an offer to upgrade to LIFE MEMBER for $30.75/month for 12 months (12 X30.75 = 369.00). Since I am 68 years-old, I would break even in 30 years and 9 months, age 99. If I like it, this could be a good deal for a much younger person. |

Welcome to the club and the board jmaher. Just think, after you reach you're break-even point, you're getting everything for free after that. How can ya beat a deal like that? |
