I agree we aren't members of a club. Just a website. A chat site. All of the things offered are not that great. With the money they get from advertising,we should have at least one place we could all meet other members. Like a Club House somewhere in a central location . We don't have any say in anything,I never saw a financial discloser. My wife goes on facebook and it doesn't cost her a penny to talk to her friends. They have me becoming a member in 2010,I was a member long before that. They don't even keep accurate records. Why don't we start our own club,All we need is some good sportsminded people. Let me know I'll join a real club. |

castman, first of all the "club"has members world wide! where is centrally located? and i am in washington state, we have a "get togather" for our members! have had it for years! last years had to be cancelled because of timing issues with members, but we will have another this year! the reason they have you as starting in 2010 was that was 1 of the forum upgrades! everyone has that date not just you! and many members have started there own chat rooms! at 1 time i belonged to many of them! if you read any of the comments before your post you would know this is a company not a club!what you paid your money for was the chance to test stuff, the forums here, and maybe winning 1 of the contests! does your job show you a financial statement? no cause it thier company! same here! if it was a real club they would fight to keep your gun rights! this 1 dont! if you want to join a "real" club try ducks unlimited, or rocky mountian elk foundation, or trout unlimited! i for 1 have made some great frienships thru this club! i have had at 6 differnt members to my home! and would welcome many more! thats the real benifit to this club! it`s the people that are in it! |

If they have that many members they need more than one . Maybe if they stop going on those hunting vacations they could do this for us. And if we are not a club then they decieved us in the begining by calling it a club and not a company. They should clarify that point before they sell what they call MEMBERSHIPS. They are using our numbers to sell advertisements and make themselves money, why then did we have to pay to join? |

As has been posted numerous times, when the Paul and Steve Burke first formed the NAHC, there was hunting land owned by the "CLUB" and members could use those lands, the original concept was quite different from what the NAHC is today. The magazine published a list of new members in each issue, and anyone who sent in pictures or a story had it published. There were organized club hunts.......that were actually affordable, and member input counted for something. When they sold the "'CLUB", the lands went away, the magazine stopped publishing new member names and began to selectively print member's articles and pictures. The company then was sold to a British outfit who came up with the Life Membership program, and everything got lumped under the NAMG, along with the Fishing Club, Gardening Club, and etc. After the Brits sold the company(yet again) the new ownership group developed the Trophy Life Membership, and the only thing the company became interested in was growing the membership numbers. We've commented many times in the past, that this organization is and never has been an actual "club" wherein the membership elects officers, and establishes the bylaws, and operating standards. The name North American Hunting Club, was simply a trademarked name........nothing more and nothing less. Even back in the original formulative years, Paul and Steve were in it for the money, although they did intend to actually make it SEEM like a club. Nowadays, the NAHC is simply one portion of the NAMG, and is probably the largest money making division. Just remember that never, ever, in the original membership agreement were there any promises that members would vote for officers, elect board members, be guaranteed field test items, or that winning any contests were guaranteed. We were promised that we would receive items on a "try it and buy it" program as part of our membership agreement, along with the original membership gifts for payment in full of the membership fees. What separates the NAHC from organizations such as DU, NWTF, RMEF, the NRA, and other similar organizations is the fact that when you join those groups, you are joining a non-profit organization. When you join groups like the NAHC, the Sportsmen of America, Buckmasters, and others similar to them, you are becoming a member of a for-profit organization. Simply having the term "CLUB" in a name, certainly doesn't make an organization an actual member driven social club!!!!!!! Even those folks who live and breath facebook, have no say in how it's operated.....unless they were dumb enough to invest in the stock, and then they have very little say!!!!!!!!!!! |

castman did you read the terms of service before you signed up? for us? thats a joke! they dont care about "us"! like i said it is a company! does cabela`s care about you, no but they will take your money!! did you even read the first post on this thread? how did they decieve you, if you read the TOS you would have known all before you joined! thats why they have this "club" so you can pay for thier vacations! and if you dont want them selling your info you can stop them just call and tell them to stop! as long as "you" let them they will sell your info!! there will never be a clubhouse!! but as i have said in washington there is a "GT" every year!! maybe you should try and start 1 in your home state! and not just the members in washington come to the "GT" i know members from oregon and wyoming have been there too! sometimes there have been 60 or 70 people at these things! it is a 3 day event, you see thats the true benfit of this club! the members!!!! if your looking for more your going to be dissapointed!!

Wow! I'm surprised this is still around. Thought the club would have deleted it long ago?
I started this a couple years ago because the club wasn't listening. And, obviously, they are still not listening! Or it would not still be an issue!
I do want to set some things straight. The Washington GT is not there to condem our club. I as a founding member of the first Washington GT, helped set it up as a place where members of the club could share family's and hunts. What I thought represented the NAHC when I first joined in 1978. I've met friends at the WA GT. I've hunted with many members that have shared with me their stories and hunts, and I have shared what I know with them.
I've not attend all of the Washington GTs, as I now live in Wyoming. It's a bit of a drive to get to Ellensburg, but worth the trip!!!
Holly, I know you and I have butted heads. If you travel to the WA GT, me and my wife will be there, as will be many new friends.
We are the Club! And our Club shares information, friendsship and hunts.
We are the members, and they can't take that away from us.

If you happen to get around the Albany NY area give a shout. We're actually a little over an hour south of there but most folks have heard of Albany. ;-) |

Cool! You gonna tour West Point on your way through? The Franklin Roosevelt and Vanderbilt homes are here too as well as the Robert Morse place. If you're into vintage planes, there are two air shows each weekend at the Rhinebeck Aerodrome. The "stories" are mainly targeted to entertain young children but the planes are awesome. They have quite a few vintage WW I era planes, and earlier, that they fly, all original. They also have a bunch more that you can view that they don't fly. You can even take a ride in an open cockpit biplane. Here's a link to that site. http://www.oldrhinebeck.org/index.p...&Itemid=87 A lot to do/see in the area. |

I really like the scoutlook weather site the Club/Company ( I don't really care what its called) I've logged in night before a trip and morning before getting up to date weather and mapping my spots and travels, like the zoom in feature as well can see right where I want to get to....so I like it just for that and all the knowledge here as well as the magazine.... |

guys. The bottom line here is that the club can be whatever we make it. Hang in there and lets make this thing work for us. After all, you can stop them from sending you all those books and coins and not have to worry about weather you send it back in 30 days or less like I did and still use the web sight and stuffstuff. I have tested some of the items of lesser expence and looking foward to getting something else to test. We will have to figure this rank stucture thing out and see what we can do about having a say in who is serving at what post. Participating in the blogs and forums might help and get some attention from the top. In the mean time happy hunting. |
