Sadly this has become all to common. Browing knives are now made in China the appearance is ok but quality of workmanship is lacking. My own employer is a world wide manufacturer of cutting and welding equipment and while our products are not made in china (yet) most of our product is now being made overseas and south of the border all in the name of increased profit although I think some has to do with product liability. |

Most of the knife manufacturers have their USA made lines, and their "international " lines. Many of these foreign made knives are actually made in Japan, Italy, and Spain. These are usually of a very high quality. Some of the Chinese built knives are built from compononents which are made in the US, but shipped to China for assembly. Sure some of this stuff is lacking in quality, but it would surprise most people to know how good a lot of the cutlery actually is, even if made overseas. The finest quality knives are all from Solengen, Germany, and Toledo, Spain, with a great deal of USA made products becoming increasingly better. Buck has some of the best, and highest quality American built knives on the market, Gerber is another company that is hard to beat. Some of the older names, such as Case, Tiduet, and Queen, still make good quality knives, while a few of the newer companies are much more innovative,an example is Columbia River Knife and Tool. The bottom line is don't get complacent with old names such as Schrade, Black Jack, Bear, and Marbles, and definitely pay attention to the tang stamps when considering a knife purchase. |

I have to be very careful when researching new blades for some of the knives I build. Even though I deal alot with companies from the USA, some of the products they offer are made in China. My first question to these folks when shopping for blades is 'Where are the blades made?" and "where is the steel made?". Don't be afraid to ask and don't think yourself being rude for asking. That being said, I have found some decent knives offered that were made in China as well. I have to give credit where it is due. The small pocket knives I posted awhile back for $10 each are one such case. OF course they are simply a $10 knife that is a good choice for daily carry. IF I had to ask more than what i do for them, then I wouldn't even offer them. For the price, they are a good little knife. I honesty would like to beleive that the club is trying to do us all a service by offering some of the deals they get. YES, they are for profit, they always have been. Face it the folks who work for the club gotta eat too. But if thy are sincere in the way they choose and offer the products, being completly up front about where they are made then I don't see a problem. Just be sure and do the footwork to offer the best quality possible and stand beind what they offer as well. |

I know there are certain items you can't buy made here. My thought they slowly took are manufacturing jobs away and we need to slowly bring them back. If guys can save 2 cents on anything thats the way they go and that needs to stop. The job you save may be your own. |

Maybe, just perhaps, if the GD Unions were dissolved, and wages were brought back to an honest pay for an honest day's work, some of those jobs would come back. Obama's a$$ kissing of the Unions, and this dumb fugging Health Care Bill, on top of this fugged up Cap and Trade Bill, and Amnesty BS, will prevent the return of those jobs that have been sent overseas, and that along with the skirt chasing Clinton's NAFTA Treaty will insure that those jobs won't ever come back. |

My sentiment exactly rthomas unions are so fake. I can't believe the number of people who follow that agenda blindly along. Unions have never created 1 job but they sure as he-- have cost millions. Get rid of them all. |

The unfortunate thing is that there are alot of jobs one CANNOT get unless they are in the union. To get in the union, they have to pay and then play the politics games so they can get a job that will most likely end up being outsourced eventually because the company can not afford to pay the union wage. There WAS a tie when the unions served a solid purpose but those days are gone. The laws now in place have made the unions obsolete. All the unions do is COST the worker and the companies that would otherwise provide more jobs to those needing them. |

Buying made in the “USA” is all our jobs! It’s worth the extra money and the piece of mind knowing you help keep some “American” in a job, then you just hope someone else feels the same way to keep you in a job.

Totally agree, fellers! The knife set that I received from NAHC is made in China, but the set that I received from Buckmasters is"Western" and made in the USA. A much better set. I suppose that if it was the only thng you had to survive with in the wilderness, it would suffice, and would be better than a sharp rock....... SSG, US Army (Retired) 1972 -1992 |

Why must you always pick on union jobs? They are American, they employ American workers that get paid better than non union with better bennies etc. The jobs are in America. Drive a truck delivering concrete for $8/Hr with limited benny or drive a truck delivering concrete for a union shop for over $18/Hr with full benny, retirement pension etc. Not a hard choice to make. Unions DO provide well paying jobs. Yes I pay dues,so what? It's all part of the game. NAFTA is the major screw up in this country, not unions. The country was built on unions that gave men a fair wage for a hard day worked. I agree that the club should sell American made stuff VS imported crap.....after all,it is called the North **AMERICAN*** Hunting Club is it not? |

Because unions empower the socialist state, and support Obama and the democrats! Unions once served a purpose, but now the folks who truly benefit from the unions, are their leaders! I agree that NAFTA has caused a lot of our problems, but after all it was the unions that supported Clinton, and he pushed for the NAFTA passage. |

I recently had to buy a new clothes dryer so I searched online for the brands that were made in USA. Whirlpool was one of them. I found one on sale and after I got home with it I seen on the box "Assembled in the USA." |
