Hey eruscher, thanx for responding!  What kinda critters do they have there, and how much is it to hunt on base?  I take it it's a Naval Air Station (NAS).Are you looking for a hunting partner?  Can you use rifle, shotgun?  Y'all got me psyched her .  I'm gonna go look up where Freer, Tx is and get back to you.  Thanx for the post.  Jim

E-mail is on the way. I hope you have "Google Earth". I'm sending you the coordinates of the property, and a phone #.
BTW: Wolverine47 is coming by tomorrow to meet in person and possibly scout.
Boy did I have a great day Wed. with "ternera" at his place in Branford, Fl. He offered me the chance to hunt his property, so I drove up from Ft. Myers(3 1/2 hr's) to meet him. Well worth the trip! He's a great guy, and very friendly. He really showed me around, most of his 900 acres. We took his gulf cart and drove all over the place. We got out many times to walk areas he knew were good. He has a good combo of pines & hard woods, and some bottom areas with many stands that he built by him self. He also has severial food plots. What a great place he has. There are so many great looking spots, it's hard to deside where to start. I can't wait until it time to hunt.
I plan on going back this next Mon. to take my trail cams & some bait to see just what is there. Thanks Again Garica, and looking forward to seeing you again my friend.

LS---Just in case he doesn't see your question, Dave lives in a suburb on the southwest side of Detroit out past the airport.  He was up at my place deer hunting a couple years ago and I also took him turkey hunting at Fort Custer.

"TOPGUN", where in Michagin do you live. I grew up in Saginw, and call Houghton Lake home. My daughter lives not to far from the airport in Brownstown. I was just up there in July, and had a great time with her and the grand kids. USN from 12/64 to 9/68, 3 tours in Viet Nam 65-68. Have a good one.

Im a Disabled Vet as well.  I am on 70% disability.  I was with the 101st airborne in afghanistan, and an rpg hit about 15 feet from me and slammed me into the humvee, which now i have pins in my knees, ptsd, tbi, slipped disk in my back, torn rotator cuff.  So i feel with everyone else.  It sucks, but just gotta make it day by day.

I looked up NASKingsville and I've herd of a ranch down there where you can hunt bison for $1900.  It nhad exotic rams as well for around $400 ea.  Is that the same place?  I'd be willing to take a trip down thers if the prices are right. If you know of another place there let me know what their prices are.  Got me pumped now that I might have someone to hunt with after a 10hr drive.

Hello all, I am a Vet served in the Army for 8 years. I have 60% from the va for a number of reasons. I spent 40 months out of my 8 years in Iraq. I currently reside in colorado. One of the issues i have is my back. It is hard for me to walk through these mountains over here hunting. Besides horses and ATV's is there anything else anyone would recommend I use to help with this? Thanks jcharms

ternera I too am a 100% disabled Veteran of Vietnam Republic of and through the good graces of our Great Lord above I still have all my limbs and can use them but I am limited to walking albiet slow and don't do the long walks or hills and definitely no mountains which really aggravates me as I would love to hunt Elk. Please be so kind as to send me a message to my email which is bigdawgwalls@yahoo.com as I would like to talk with about maybe hunting. Thanks ! Merry Christmas and a Happy AND Safe New Year to all my brother Veterans on this BB.

It took a while, but finally Chuck(Wolverine47) decided to come and try hunting at my farm. Missed the month of archery(does legal), missed black powder, missed doe week(with any gun). Shows up and wants to shoot a doe, with the FWC officer sniffing around the property. On his second day, he got lucky and a 6-pt decided to commit suicide and run into his gun. Well, he is happy and I am happy for him too. He got a chance to fulfill a dream, and I got the pleassure of helping a disable vet. achieve it.
Note: I'll try to post this on the" memebers helping members" section too.

This is an interesting board. I'm 70 % disabled by VA and 100 % by SS since 94, nam vet , assualt helios 69-70, list of BAD back, both knees, both shoulders, copd. I have found that there are ways to help hunting, a good partner is one(the most important) I wist to thank you all for your service. I live in mid Mi. and can shoot right of my window if i wished but tis more fun getting out there and trying to keep up with the boys. Hopes you all have a great holiday and may your health improve.

Well first of all, ternera1 (Garica) is one of the biggest BSer's I'v every met! LOL  Really, he is one Great guy. I didn't decide to wait until mid Dec.(full moon) to hunt. I had some $ matter's that had to be taken care of first. If i was able to, I would have been on Garcia's place in Sept. with a new Crossbow. Any way, I did finally get up to hunt with Garcia last week(Mon.- Sun), and he was a great guy to be around. He showed me around his land again, and gave me some great advice and help. All of which I was greatfull for. The 1st 2 days were disappointing, I didn't see any deer. Squirls, Turkeys & armadillo's yes but, no deer. Finally on Thur. I desided to go to this OLD blind he had, that had birlap camo. I finally saw some deer, a doe & a nice 6pt. buck. I was using my new T/C Venture .270(What a great rifle!). It sure did a job on that buck. Dropped him where he stood. This was my 1st deer since the mid 1970's. I'm so greatful to Garcia for letting me hunt his land. He is a class act all the way, and I hope to remain friends with him for many years to come. BTW, the BSer didn't know when he was being BSest him self. In no way was I going to take a doe!LOL  That wouldn't be legal. I know this is a little long but, it was just a great week. And so nice to be in the woods again! Thanks again Garica!

It's not a trophy by most people's standards, so I didn't bother. But, if you insist.  LOL Well, I tried but, it said my pic's were to big(over 500 kb.). I don't know how to resize them. If you can, sent me your e-adderss in a privite message, and I'll send you a couple in an E-mail.

Gettings fellow vets,

I am 100% SS and 70% VA disabled.  I've resisted it my whole life but circumstances caused me to give in a couple years ago.  I'm a VietNam Vet in NE Oklahoma.  I use a local clinic 20 miles from here and my hospital needs are met in Fayetteville, Arkansas VA Hospital.  Last year I bought a Barnett Crossbow (with crank cock) and a .30-.30 Marlin lever action.  Also a Taurus .45C/.410 rifle.  My wife thinks I've gone nuts because I'm not really able to do anything yet, but I'm just catching up on some things I've done without my whole life.  I've gone to the woods twice last winter but didn't see a thing.  A buddy went with me the first time because I can't carry anything very far among the ridges around here.  I tried to go alone the last time but the wife insisted on going with me.  Both times I saw "NOTHING."  Most I know saw nothing or very little this season.  So, perhaps I will be in better shape next season and can do what I've never done before.  I just joined the LM Hunting Club so hope it to help me catch up intellectually that I've missed out on in past experience.

So far, I've enjoyed what little I've read on the forums.  Everyone have a great day!
