I'll have one of those cold ones.  Finally recovered enough after last weekend for the word 'beer' to sound good again.

Went camping with some buddies from PSU.  The only rule is that you bring a case of beer and your own lawn chair.

Been on vacation for 3 weeks with the Mrs. and then spent a week at Raystown lake with the grand kids( not what I consider vacationing). This place still smells like stale beer, I'll have Cindy-san turn on the big fan and air the joint out. I guess we can stick a fork in the Phils, hope not, but it don't look good with all the injuries.
I'm ready to shoot some pool, eat some hot wings, and suck down a few frosties. Drinks on the snake.
Hey Shovel, hows that belly ache of yours doing?
Dale, been on a few of those camping trips myself. Don't you love it when you wake up in the morning, and your hair hurts? Been there.
DS,glad you made it back.

Snake, I probably gave the wrong impression (well part of the story anyhow) There's a dozen of us that lived on the first floor of Beaver Hall at PSU (Beaver's Phyrst). We started getting together back in 83 or 84. The gang grew as we got married and had kids. Went to Lake Erie for a year or two, then Raystown for several, and now we hit a private campground near Clarion. Our highest attendance was nearly 100 people, this year we had 40.

Drink beer, play volleyball, drink beer, go swimming, drink beer, play cards, drink beer, eat like pigs, drink beer.... In addition to the cases, we have a keg(s) on ice until it/they run out on Saturday, then switch to cases.

So I never really got fall down drunk, but except for some coffee and juice in the AM, I don't think I drank anything except beer for 4 days.

Dale, sounds like you and your buds are keeping up the Penn State tradition of knowing how to party. Just saw today that this year they came in 3rd in the country, Georgia came in #1. I spent all total about 8-10 months in Atlanta in the 70's while working as a helicopter mechanic, and an Inspecter for the Army. I had a blast, those rebels do know how to party, even the" Georgia Peaches " liked to party. Not the fruit. Wish I knew then, what I know now.
Time for an OLD#7/ginger and a frostie. I'll get Cindy-san to pop in a Zac Brown Band cd so we can party.

DK,

Sounds like you had a great time with your buds. We used to do that back in the 80's and then things all started to drift apart slowly and I don't see many of them anymore. It is Augest already and I haven't heard a peep about my 30 year class reunion, but come to think about it we didn't have our 25th until October. I might have to guess it will be late again this time as well.

 Snake,

I wondered where ya have been. I have stopped in a couple of times to find the place deserted. Oh! the gut has it's good days and bad days. I was diagnosed with IBS, irritable bowel syndrom

Well the County fair has come and gone for another year, without my attendance I might add. It is getting too expensive to go anymore, $8.00 admission + $3.00 to park + if you want something to eat well depends how many you are buying for you can figure on around $40.00. That is just one time of going. The shows are costly as well. The only thing free there is the exhibits. If they had a beer stand I bet the attendance would improve, but they would have to more security on the payrole.

I have been picking veggies at the farm which I need to do today yet. I am so tired of zuccini, picked about 10 bushel so far. I have canned 33 quart of pickels so far as well. I have dug 41/2 rows of potatoes which has netted me 65# of new taters and I still have 4 rows to dig, so I should have seed for next year. I still have the same group of Buck over at the farm 1- big 9, 1-big 8, 2- med. 6's, 1-4, and 1-spike.  I also have a few doe and fawns running around too.
I think with all the gas well drilling they are doing on ethe state forest they have driven the deer out of the big woods and into the farm country.

Well gents enjoy the nice weather now because in 4-5 month we willl be shoveling again. Have cold one on the shovel and don't forget you can check on you doe license on-line, I did and we got a 1st round for 2E.

Gully, heard nothing from our little buddy. How the heck are you doing?

Shovel, so IBS is the culprit? Just make sure you bring you meds to the turk hunt this year. Maybe we'll even do some hunting this time. Sounds like you like taters and zucchini..... me too, both go good with venison.
Man, it's been so dam hot and humid lately, I just hang around the pool and replentish with fluids, mostly beer. Just might sneak up the mountain tonight and do some scouting.... maybe not.
Drinks on the snake, rest of the week.

Snake, been doing OK. Mostly a lot of fishing. Also been working on ironing out problems with our own site. Got it all done now and people should be able to get on board at woodsnwaterusa.com. Hope to see lots of newbies there. We're just getting established. We don't care to be the biggest or best, just a good place to come and participate in our forums and discussions. Everyone on this site is welcome.

I am back...been in the field all week. It was a hot mother-beater out there, mid-90s and near 100% humidity. It was miserable! I am still planning on heading back gully; will let you know when and then give you a call when I know when/if can meet for lunch or something.

I see JD must have studdered.

I got a good scare this morning... it was 5AM when I got up and went outside for a smoke and was sitting on my front porch and a 350# Bear walked up and was ready to step up on the there but I gave a big "HEY!" and it took off around the garage and started back down and I said to it just keep moving ... get along with ya! He went off into the darkness with some loud crashes. I think I scared it more than it scared me. It was nice to see it though.

It's been raining off and on here most of the morning and I was supposed to go out to a fellow lifemembers place which is about 4 mile away and continue working on his sheeting on the outside of his camp. He bought a whole bunch of white pine tounge and groove lumber but his wife wouldn't let him put it in the bedroom, so he decided to sheet the basement entrance with it and I must say it looks really nice. I will take a pic of it when it is done and try to load it here.

The zucchini is all done and the cukes are all pulled and I only have 2 rows of taters to dig and they are done.

Have cold one on Shovel gents and have a good week.

Sam, that kind of  close encounter will get your heart started better than nicotine or caffeine!

We were camping this weekend, Saturday was beautiful.  Sunday we got the camper closed up, hooked up, and pulled out of the campground just as the rain started coming down about noon.  Doesn't get much better than that.

I am glad he didn't charge DK. Also when I got up this morning (Sat.) my wife came running up and said there is a bear in the trees accross the road from the house so grabbed the camera and got a quick shot of it crossing the road. The camera is a bit slow (3-5second delay on the shot) I took another when it was in the woods but it was still a bit too dark and all I got was a silouette. I think it was the same Bear so I figure I just might have to get a bear license this year. I get the chance I will upload the pic but I have to go to work.

That was good timing DK, don't ya love it when a plan comes together.

Have a good week gents and throw back a cold one in the shade cause it's supposed to get hot and humid the next couple of days.

Hey Shovel, if you do bag that bruin, bring some meat to the turk hunt this year and I'll make some stew to die for. Oh, I just finished the last pack of crab legs you so graciously left up at camp for me and skwirl. The Mrs. ate one leg and I pigged out on the rest, tank u again.
Deer are starting to show up on the cameras, mostly does and fawns, and a few scrub bucks, nothing to brag about. Leaves are starting to fall from the trees already, guess it's the dry summer we had. Hope it don't cut down on the acorn crop.
Might be a bit too early but I'm ready for an OLD#7/ginger and a round or two for the bar.

I'll be up home later this week. Will not be there long and have several things to do so it will not be the vacation that we would like but at least I will get a chance to visit with the folks and see our friends newborn that was born last week.

Gully, we are planning to give you a ring and see about meeting for lunch or dinner in Breezewood area, depending on the time frame that we make it to those parts. If too late on the way up Thur then we might can try again on our way back down here on the following Tues...breakfast time though.

Only a few more days till hunting season...yee-haw!

Well that bruin is still around here, seen him again this morning @ 4:30a.m. walking in the yard, damn thing isn't afraid when I talk to it. I think he's hanging about eating corn in the fields just up the road from the house. I think the farmer isn't going to have much of a yield this year from those fields.

I have been working on my friends camp in the eveninings finishing up the carpentry job I started last week. I have about another 2-3 evenings and it should be done. It is a way to make some extra cash to buy ammo and pay taxes. The regular job is good for paying the bills and some frills but I thought it was a way to make some pocket money or as they say in Harrisburg, walking around money. I think everyone needs that.

I made a dreadful mistake the other day... I accidentally swallowed a pull tab from a frosty. My daughter is saving them for cancer patients and I pulled one off and it fell onto the can (still half full) and when I was drinking it, it went down and didn't realize it until I didn't get the tab out when it was empty. I hope everything comes out O.K. I told her that she had to take them off from now on when they are empty.

Snake I am glad you are still enjoying the crablegs. I am going to finish up the last of them on Saturday at camp for lunch... GOOD EATS.

Oh! by the way I just got a new tree stand last weekend too... a 17 footer ladder stand I got it for $80.00 my son bought one just like it, so that will give us three for over at the farm.

Have a good one gents and have a cold one on the shovel since it didn't get as hot out as they said it was going to.

Hi y'all. Been real busy with the cottage in Canada and getting things packed for our move down South. The move is going to happen on October 30th. That will give me time to do some archery hunting. I have a big 10pt and 8pt I have my eyes on and have some pics of them. I can post them later on, but for now I'll buy a few frosty ones.

Geez Shovel, I hope that tab didn't come out sideways.
I also bought a new ladder stand a few weeks back, but haven't had the time to put it together yet. Maybe this week, after I rip apart the filter on the pool and replace the bladder or a few tubes... it's a D.E. filter I bought in 1987 and only had to replace the bladder once since then. It's been acting up lately.... spittin out cloudy earth.
We have a large 9pt showing up on the trail cam 2-3 times a day in the local state park. Not sure if we can pattern him
to hunt in bow season. We usually do not hunt in the park until late in the season, but I just might take a whack at him
earlier this year. It's only a 5 mi drive to the park, and I don't have to climb up or down any mountains.
Well DS, hope your big move goes smoothly. Sure did appreciate your input here at the cantina the last few years. You will stop in from time to time I hope??? Cindy-san will always have a few frosties on hold for you. Take care, and good luck brother.
I'm gettin a little misty sooooo, I guess it's time for an OLD#7/ginger and a round for the bar.
