Somewhere back a page or two was a generous offer to join in the spring turkey hunt. I thank you for the invite but with the wife not working and only one vehicle right now, I just can't make it happen. Thanks anyhow.

I mowed the grass this evening and I need a cold one, so the round's on me.

Well that's too bad dk, the hunt is next week, although this year I have to leave camp early in mid week to come home, probably wed night. My youngest son is up from Texas and is coming to camp for the hunt. His flight back to Texas leaves on Fri, so he needs Thurs for visiting and packing.
I'm planning on going to camp this sat or sun... more like sun as of right now.
Heads up Ty, I'll up in God's country soon. Call you soon.

Oh boy, this is going to be tough. Arrived in camp sun afternoon only to have a water pipe blow out of an elbow under the bathroom vanity when I turned the H20 pump on. The shower head, and another elow were also cracked. Apparently some members were up in camp last Feb, and didn't drain all the lines properly when they closed camp. I had an inch of water on the bathroom floor before I got it shut off. I called our camp pres.and the sec. to report the leaks and they both told me not to try and fix it the next day because they want to replace ALL the pipes and maybe put in a new floor. Work party comin up soon. Bottom line ... no hunt this year.
I had my youngest son with me, who was up from Texas, and we decided to come home so he could hunt with his older brother locally. He fished two days and hunted 2 days and went back to Texas on Fri. On wed they both passed on two jakes which came in to about 15 yds. I was mad because I wanted to eat some Turkey on the Bar-b.
Sat. night my son called from Texas and said he had alot of pain in his lower right side, my wife told him to get to the hospital. Guess what?? The operated on him this morning to remove his appendix. The operation went fine, and he is doing good. It's been a long week.
I could use a few OLD#7 shooters. Drinks on the snake.

Hell of week, Snake. Have another one one me. Glad the kid is alright, that is scary stuff. We thought my son was having appendix problems when he was about 10. Long night at the hospital but no appendicitis thankfully.

It has been awhile since I have been in.

Sorry to hear about your son Snake and about the camp as well. I hope he gets better and the camp gets fixed and I hope the rest of the year is better than the past couple of weeks have been for you.
Dale I hope Grace can find a job soon with the way gas prices are the traveling will be costly.
JD hope you get your guys back home soon.

For myself, I have had some troubles wit my neck, this vertibrae won't stay in place. I woke up on the 9th with spiking headachs numb hand again and not feeling well at all so it was another day off, and I am running out of days. I went to my chirpractor and he X-Rayed it and found that the C1, C5 and T1 bones were all out of place. He got the last 2 put back and couldn't get the C1 to move much, so I am still having the headachs and I woke this morning with a numb hand again so I think that one of the others poped back out of place. I go see the bone cracker again on Wed. It may take a few weeks of this to get things to stay in place.
I haven't taken the time to even think about turkey hunting due to trying to get the garden ready and planting and working on a 3 point hitch tiller I bought for over at the farm. I bought it from a guy I know, who told me it needed a bearing and a couple of tines and thought that it would be an easy fix...... WRONG!!! When he delivered it there were only half the parts for the gear box and the pinion gear was shot and it's missing 8 tines. I bought a new gear box for it and am in the process of finding the tines. I did get my potatoes in the ground and put in some corn, squash, garlic, onions, radishes.I am going to wait a couple of weeks to put more corn in so I can have it come on in sucession.Thwe tomatoes and cukes are next to go in if it stops raining.
We have been cleaning up the barn getting it ready for my son's wedding in Aug. and have been sorting the stuff that is scrap and what is good. Does anyone want a 1940 thrashing machine and combine?

Well that been what's going on in the shovel's world. I hope to hear of some sucess in the sping bird hunt.

Have a couple cold ones on me gents.

Hey Shovel, sorry to hear the health problems are back, hope you get it sorted out. There may be a market for your old combine and thrasher. There's an antique steam engine association in that area (some down here too). They have a spring show coming soon. Try contacting Fred Kriner (the auctioneer) in Luthersburg, I think he's pretty heavily involved in the steam association. Susquehanna Steam something or other.

Good news guys, my wife got a job offer on Friday, she starts Monday. We've only been running one vehicle so transportation will be a bit tricky for a few days but we can deal with that. About 20 minutes from home and the pay rate ain't great but it's more than she's making now ($0). She's been looking since we moved to Lancaster a year ago and the cabin fever is getting bad for her.

Wifey is buying the next round!

Dale

That's great news about your wife getting a job dk, and thank her for the drink.
Shovel, hope that bone cracker can fix you up. My older brother swears by his bc. My back problems are way beyond their pay grade. Oh, and good luck with the tiller. Don't you just love it when a simple fix turns out to be a pain in the azz? I've had more than my share of those rascals.
Heard from my son, Justin(34), in Dallas, just yesterday. He was operated on last mon AM and released on wed AM 2 days later. He's home and doing fine.
Haven't heard anything definite about the camp yet. I'm pushing for a complete over haul of the bathroom. Should know more after this week end.
Wanted to go sit in the woods yesterday and today, but hate to sit in the rain.
F Y I it's been 10 WEEKS of NO smokes for me. My oldest son, Jason(39), said now that I no longer smoke, I'll be allowed to hunt within 1/2 mi of him in archery season.
I need a drink after that. Drinks on me.

Glad to hear the son is OK, that stuff can be scary. With the money you saved on smokes, you can afford to buy two rounds!

Congratulations and keep going,

Dale

Dale, I'm glad that Grace found a job. It will ease the cabin fever a bit but will get some getting used to to start. She also is lucky to find one so close to home. I hope it is in her field of study and that she likes it.
I will check with Fred Kriner and see if he knows anyone interested in those farm implements.
Snake, Glad your son is doing fine and congrats on the non-smoking thing. I have tried several times with no luck. I know what you mean about sitting in the rain on a hunt. When I was in my 20's I thought nothing of it but now pushing 50 the bones just ache too much to set through it.

I see on the home page that we are about to start our all day spring turk hunt. I will have to read the article. I haven't picked up my digest since last fall so I will have to read up on it.

Thanks for the drinks gents and you too Grace. I'll get the next round.

Got one of the boys home Monday. Still uses a whellchair some of the time, crutches most of the time, and is starting to walk without them. His attitude is great and so far he is recovering quicker than expected. The other should be back next week.

JD, Glad you have one of your boys home and he will be up and running in no time. I also hope the other recoops fast as well.

Dale, How is Grace liking the new job?

Snake, Hope things are still getting better with your son and that the urge to smoke is gone for good.

I got my veggi plants in and my fence put up to keep the deer out. and still cleaning my barn. I am getting ready to start cutting fields before it gets too tall.

I flagged for a bad accident we had here yesterday, I was the Departments first responder to this one. It involved a car that crossed the center line on SR 255 near DuBois and took the rear wheel off a Chevy pick-up then took the front axle out from under a loaded school bus. The driver of the car had to be life flighted and 4 children were taken to the hospital for injuries, also the bus driver and a chaperone were injured. It looked to me like the bus driver hit the windshield because it was broke out. There wasn't much left to the car. The guy driving it had to be really flying when he hit the truck and bus to do that much damage.

Have a frostie on me gents,

Grace says "It's a job". She's still learning the ropes so we'll see how it goes.

I heard about that accident, also heard the driver that was life flighted died. Bad day for a lot of people.

Take care all, gotta get back to some yard work. Heading to Dutch Apple Dinner Theater later for supper.

Here as you can see is the bear that is visiting where we use to have our feeder out for the deer at my cousin Ronnie's house. This bear decided to partly destroy the feeder. In one of the pics you can see the bear ripped off the spreader attachment and it is laying on the ground along with all the corn and also, which my cousin deleted the other pic by mistake, it knocked down the whole feeder, so the feeder had to be taken out of the woods and repaired, but it will stay down for awhile. Click on the link below. Ohh and BTW drink up I'm buying.

Nice sized Bruin DS. I have a YOGI running around here but have yet to see it to see how big it is. Since things dried up there are no tracks in the mud hole that I usually see them in. The Elks club has a picinic pavillion across the road from me and they rent it out for special events and it gets into the dumpster after the parties so I suspect to see it soon. So far it hasn't done any damage here at the house and one of these mornings/ evenings I will have one of those close encounters with it. I am certainly not going to bait it in. I don't need the whole family showing up because I might be the main course. LOL

13 weeks as of yesterday...... still SMOKE FREE, and breathing much better. Big problem though, I'm starting to develope a little " belt overhang". I've put on about 10 lbs of pure belly fat. None of my dam pants fit right, especially my cammies. On a mission this summer to loose at least 15 lbs WML.
Big azzed bear DS. I'd call the PGC and ask to have it removed. How big and how many fish did you catch when you were up north?
jd, hope you got all of your men back and all are OK, and ready for battle.
Well I'm hot, thirsty and need an OLD#7/ginger. Cindy's tending out at the wet bar so C'mon let's go, I'll be buying all night.
