Well at that property the past 5 years of hunting it, I have killed a gray fox with a bow, missed a coyote with a bow, missed a buck with the bow but stuck an arrow into the same buck minutes later only to lose him onto the neighbor's land. I missed a huge buck with 1 large left antler and a shattered right antler with a muzzleloader, or rather, grazed the hair off his back. I killed a large doe and button buck with a .303, but my best one was the small yearling doe that "bought-it" from 10-15 yds from my handloaded nuclear-powered .45-70.

Blew a fist-sized chunk of lung out the exit hole which I located in the weeds about 5' from her, flipped her 180 degrees around and flipped he so she landed on her back. I had never before seen a round actually knock a deer down until that one. I am hoping to be able to set up the shop and get on your rifle actions quickly in the spring.

Sounds good to me Shi. Yep ! The first doe I shot with my 45/70 shooting 405gr ammo she did the flip and landed pointing in the original direction. She had stepped out of the thick stuff along the edge of the old logging road at about 20 yards. The feller that was walking with me when we heard her coming through the thicket still to this day tells anyone that will listen bout her. He said man it looked like a cartoon shot with her flipping completely over. Same as yours with the exit hole I could stick my hole fist in it. BUY GUNS AND AMMO !!!! ALL THE WAY ! NEVER QUIT !! Y'all are so wasteful of meat! You should model yourselves after out hero, Quailman! He uses a .17 and shoots them in one of the eyes that are glowing in the spotlight! Shi, how's the Mansion On Rattlesnake Knob??? Got any new pics?? Went up there yesterday and we finally have porch work! The front porch is 7' 6" wide. I don't really like how high it is, but that is the lay of the ground and to raise the ground higher is going to take several more truck-loads of dirt and that gets into $$, so for the time being we have to live with the steps. Someday I hope to raise the ground level there so I only have 2-3 steps. I like my guns towed and crew-served! http://www.9thkyus.com/ http://www.blockaderunner.com/ http://www.nps.gov/stri/ |

Looking good Shi!! Whats the matter of a few steps, when ya live on a mountian..The air gettin to thin...lol What is overkill?I know you love this topic Tom.. Big loads and close..I guess my favorite would be popping a young Buck at 15 yards with a Rem 7 mag..Flipped,down, back up and made a dash right into a tree an about 2 seconds. Another one was a doe at 30 yards with Knight Bighorn 50mag.Thought I missed but after the smoke cleared there she was.The shot was high just under the spine with a hole you could see thru. |

I thought (amazingly enough) about that Tom. That's why I designed it with all the stuff "we" will need on the main level. The kids are upstairs and downstairs is only my shop and their play room. Later when we can't do stairs very well we shouldn't have to much, and I can actually walk around the outside of the house to get to my shop if stairs are that big of a problem. I am going to have the driveway come to the front so we can come right to the porch at least and that will allow us just the few up steps to the porch. I went up yesterday and they had just started the side porch good and the electrician was there running wires. Shi, a question... On Jan 21 when the new Prez has Storm Toopers invade the Red States to pacify, did you have your contrator build Revetments, Trenches or Redoubts? Naw, as Patton observed, "fixed fortifications are monuments to the stupidity of man." Lee knew it and so do I. If you ever get beseiged you can only defend to a glorious death or surrender to an ignoble fate. The surest method to lose is to remain defenssive. To win, one muust offend. I will have a base of supplies there to allow me to gather strength, but then must advance to attack, take and hold ground, flank and turn, and drive mine enemy from his every position. When I make it to Soddy-Daisy I'll need re-inforcements. I like my guns towed and crew-served!

We had rain 2 days last week that slowed the porch work, but it is dry this week so the Pioneer crew ought to finally finish their work on the porches this week and walk away. The posts, beams and rafters of the porches are in and they had 1 line of the tongue-in-groove decking across the front porch Saturday. As fast as that stuff goes up I think they shoudl be finished with it and probably the side porch roof today. The eclectricians had been up there running more wires and cutting some of the box opening in the logs. That is a tough job I can tell. They have to bore many holes with what appears to be a 2" bore and then use hammer and chisel to hack the rest out. The "bladder" finally arrived and is installed in the basement, an dthe water line is attached now. The pump was not in yet at the bottom of the hill, but that is probably about to go in as well since the line is now connected.

Progress is looking good! Can't hardly believe how big Dawson is getting! When you drive them Obama invaders my way, I am down to about 5000 7mm ammo, 4000 223 ammo and 3000 30Cal rounds so hurry over with your cannon! I may die defending my rights but I don't want to be over run!! Just level the Rigby or RUM at them and they'll stay away. If they come by sea, you can punch all sorts of holes in their landing craft with some solids and sink 'em out there to feed your catfish. By the way, I had a dream last night that you'd died Tom. We were all real sad here. Just be sure to put the Rigby in my name on your will quickly just in case that was a premonition. ;-)
