Miz Shi rolled her eyes??? Hope it doesn't have anything to do with her shooting my .375RUM !  At least Laurel and Dawson still love me!

Shi, if you play this financial crisis right, the Libs will buy your mortgage and let you keep your house no matter what!!

Yup, I am composing a letter to the treasury dept.

I have a 160 acre hard scrable farm which is not producing and supporting me as I feel it should.  I think a grant of about 1.6 mil should put the farm in working order, and keep me out of debt for the rest of my life.  Much cheaper then the 7 billion.

Hell I am free and clear of debt but an extra 1.5 mil will make things a lot better around here.  May even have the bucks to go to Africa with TNT then. Buy a new gun and so on.

Not much changed this past week after I posted pics.  They ran some more wiring on the 2nd flr down to the ceiling of the main level.  They cut trenches in the tops of the beams and joists and pressed the wire into the trenches, then bored down through the joists.  Very professional job.  They have stacked more lumber inside and I figured out what most of it is for.  The ceiling of the main level will be exposed beams and joist beams supporting the floor above and so the sub-floor of the 2nd flr will actually be the same 2"x6" tongue-in-groove boards they used for the ceiling of the den.  Talk about a sturdy floor!   The support boards that criss-crossed the 2nd floor as they framed and roofed are all gone now so that level is one big open framed area now.  I worked up there for a couple of hrs yesterday because I was in the mood and the weather was perfect.  The DR is out of commission again as I weld a broken rail on the deck, so I spent time cutting apart one of the trees they felled while building the driveway.  Got to play with my new chainsaw.  I feel like such a he-man with my soar arms and back and scrapes, bumps & bruises. ;-)

Sounds great,  I do enjoy working and improving my own land.  Gives you a good feeling.  Glad things are looking up.  I am thinking of building a civil war style cannon for my drive way.  Post it on the hill pointed towards the incoming road. Would go good with the Fort Werth Ky sign posted at the gate.

I know a guy that makes full-scale cannons (non-firing) out of concrete.  Even I cannot tell the difference until nearly up on them.  One of his is at the Beechgrove Cemetery hill off of I-24 and is pictured in the WBTS thread on the article I posted just before this July 4th weekend.  He sells a few mainly to be those sorts of yard ornaments around here for a couple thousand $ apiece.

Gosh!  Is it bow season already!?  I have not even touched my bows this year so I won't be playing with them.  I will probably hunt my land some this year and hope to make 1 trip to Tellico but with the house project everything is in limbo.

Nothing yet.  Had a few lookers but as far as I know nobody has offered anything.  We dropped the price $5k a week ago to get more lookers, but don't intend to go any lower.  The realtor told us that Sept-Dec is usually slow anyway because people have gotten into schools and aren't really shopping to move then.  Friday we met with our Gen'l contractor and went to the site and met the crew from Pioneer to discuss progress as well as electrical needs.  We probably will be getting in between T-giving and X-mas it appears, but if Pioneer doesn't get a move-on quickly we may not get in before New Year's. :-((  We can't fault their work, but they are much slower than they had said they'd be.  The crew said they would be doing the porches this week but were waiting on the back-fill to go under the porches before doing that.  The contractor said he'd get that done early this week then.  The electrician was there as well and we went over special electric requirements.

As it turned out, the "exposed ceiling" of the main level is the same 2x6" tongue-in-groove that they'd used for the exposed ceiling of the great room.  After getting up above it on the 2nd flr with the contractor we agreed to just sand and stain those boards up there so the kids get a wood floor.  Specs called for plywood there and carpeting to save money, but heck, 2x6" tongue-in-groove is plenty strong alone without plywood over it and this way we won't be buying carpet up there.  They were doing the eves' sheathing Friday and that part would be finished before they left at the rate they were working.

Looking good.

I sold a house up in MI a couple of years ago.  Lowered the price a bit and it finally went.  Hated to do it but up there nothing was selling. But the empty lot next to it went for twice what I thought so it worked out in the end.

Hang in there, someone will come by and just have to have the old house.

Rain started here a while ago finally and they say it's here for 2 days so likely the crew will slow down and only work inside it.  Maybe they can get the stairs done.

They worked on the stairs this week.  They also nearly finished the outside trimming.  The porch wood has been laid out and they say they will start the porches this week and could be finished with the Pioneer parts as early as this next Friday or maybe as late st the next Friday, but they are almost ready to walk away and leave it to us and the gen'l contractor to finish out.  I was looking out the great room window and saw a deer standing across the septic line in the back.  When I picked Laurel up to see it, we noticed 2 yearlings with it.
