Born and raised true Oregonian for 48 years. Lived in Madras for the first 38 and now live in Enterprise. Hunting is not what it used to be, with way to many hunters and not enough game in the areas I hunt. The quality of the hunt has declined also. It's always enjoyable to get out and take in the outdoors, but the hunt has gone downhill. |

Been in Hillsboro Oregon for about a year now. I got to say the hunting here is way better than where Im from. Not nearly as many hunting oportunities in California. Every day I am thankful that my company moved me here to Oregon. |

Live out in Bend. Native Oregonian that grew up in Roseburg. There is so much hunting and fishing that I will never leave this state. I recently lost my Dad to cancer and it has revitalized me. Just in the past 6 months I have hunted in Oregon pheasants, ducks, geese, deer, elk, coyote and fished for Salmon and Steelhead and when the snow finally melts I will be on the Cascades Lakes all summer trying to pull some heavy trout out. This is an amazing please to live. I have traveled all over the world and Oregon has the most diverse landscape of any state or country I have been in. If anyone would like to talk about their hunts in Oregon let me know I am always looking for new places to go and people to meet. Cheers, Chris |

Gary L. "Trophy Life Member" Gary, You got that right the bucks are way bigger up here. Ive seen doe that were pretty big here in Oregon, however the biggest deer I have ever seen in my life was in California up in the back country of the high Sierra mountains. It was off season for dear I was out bow hunting bear. I was on foot and the deer walked out in front of me about 30 yards. It looked right at me and we stared at eachother for at least 30 seconds before he casually walked away. This was a big boy. I was humbled by his size. I have hunted all over the U.S. inlcuding Iowa were the deer get behemoth in size and this guy was a monster buck. Oh how I wish it had been in season. This buck haunts my dreams at night |

Rouge Vally, in southern Oregon. but I grew tired of Blacktail, not that they are not great to hunt, but I grew tired of the "Private Property" and the deer knowing how to read "No Hunting" signs. as well as Blacktail small size. the Mulies to the east side of the cascades, carry mutch more meat on them. more meat, more dinners. |

I also live in Redmond, Oregon. I grew up in Madras and moved to Redmond about 10 years ago. I hunt just about everything. I really would like to hunt coyotes or hog with somone that knows what they are doing. I have never shot a coyote. For some reason, they never come in to my calls. |

jrichesin, I hunt fort rock, for mulies, but have noticed the last few years that there is A over abundance of cyotes, se them just driving on the roads, A remote controled caller works great, I havnt tried it there but know A guy who used to get them all the time using them, he would sit 50 or so yards or so above the thing and call them in. we also have A over abundance of them here in the rougevally, they are all over the place. |

Hey all, I live here in Eugene, Or. Moved over from the east side area around The Dalles. I am slowly learning the area around Eugene for hunting. Coast is near by For hunting and Fishing and the cascades are just to the east. So the hunting is out there, most tags are over the counter for this area. There are lots of animals on public lands. just put in the time scouting and talking to ODF&W. I have been successful every year since I moved down here. I am looking for Someone who wants and knows how to hunt Fern Ridge area. I have a boat and decoys. Bill

oh, I just thought of something else. when I watch all these hunting shows, they are always hunting whitetail, or mule deer, you never hear the word blacktail. whats up with that ?

rknox1, you are one lucky son of a gun, that area is my favorite place in this entire world. You got it all ! , with the Elk Horns, Wallowas, Powder River and Imnaha as well as the Snake and of course the Strawberry mountain range close by. My Parents grew up there and I have always wanted to live there , but work is hard to find in those parts.

Yea its pretty cool ,I have setup spoting scope in my front yard[in city limits] and watched the elk on the foot hills in the spring and winter ,there is city deer in my yard all the time, The city police had to put down a cougar next to the post office,It is one block from downtown, We have lived here most of our lives ,good paying jobs here are hard to find ,but we get by .Thank you Lord ,,,,,Robert |
