I'm here in Eugene, but I'm looking to move out in the next couple of years. Probably either Cheshire, Walton or Mapleton, possibly Oakridge. The plan is to get ten acres or so near the National Forest or BLM land.
I moved here in 2000, but haven't hunted in this state yet. Various reasons why: unfamiliarity with the area, some health issues (cancer), and of course unemployment problems. Can't spring for a license and arrows if you're broke...

lived in douglas county, oregon my whole life ,except for a four year stint in the army,,,this state has about everything you would like to pursue. We have elk.mule and blacktail deer, turkey, bear, cougar, sheep, etc. There is a lot of public land to hunt here.and then there is the fishing ..salmon , steelhead, trout,,etc. when we go hunting ,we just grab the gear, drive for about half and hour, to an hour,,get out of rigg start glassing walking ,hunting . just plain having fun ,,,,snowbird |

I live in Albany. Would like to live East of Cascades but have 8 more years of kids going through school(college) before I can. Hunt deer, elk, cougar, turkeys, and coyotes. Also make annual pilgrimage to Fort Rock / Christmas Valley area for small furry critters. Zog66

I'm in Silverton. I've hunted for blacktail deer and elk here in the santiam unit. Have had success on deer. Elk are tricky, I've seen plenty off season, but once the season opens they get pushed out of the area by hunting pressure. |

I live in Coos County on the Coast. It is tough hunting over here. It can be done though. I have found some really low pressured Elk spots for Bow Season, and some decent deer spots. |

Have lived in Oregon from 1986-1996 and again from 2004 - 2008 I just recently moved back to Idaho - but I'll enjoy one more season as an Oregon resident. I have lived on the east side of the state (Vale) and have enjoyed some awesome hunting for nice mulies and a lot of opportunity for elk. I think they've got pretty favorable game laws and good populations of game - just a few units that are nowhere near what they were. Tom Sorenson

I'm here in Hillsboro, have been here all of my life. except for the 5 years I was in the Army. The Coastal hunt seems to get worse every year, the logging operations have left to much debrie behind to the point that we seen 3 animials with broken legs this year, and the fishing is really getting over fished due to the nets they allow in the rivers for commerical fishing. Fish and wildlife can not seem to get a hold on regulating anything right here. The hunting in the eastern part of the state is starting to show signs of slowing down. My hunting party was succesfull the past several years but that is proably due to lots of scouting time. My opinion if it continues there will not be any good Hunting or fishing for my childeren kids in the future. |

I live in Pendelton Or. I have some arces outside of town and was able to shoot my first oregon buck with my bow in my pasture. I enjoy the bird hunting in this area to. I would enjoy getting into water fowl hunting if I had someone to enjoy it with and to learn from. I would also enjoy it if i could have a full time hunting partner. John D Johnston |
