Nice area up there.  Not too far from me really.  You been scoping out land in your travels for when you retire?

That is pretty country up that way. I used to drive 23 through Oneonta enroute to my camp in Chenango County. Definately beautiful/scenic views along that highway.
Kinda had a "fix" for that this past weekend. Attended the German Alps Fest at Hunter Mtn. Had a great time, plus the pretty countryside.

Don't feel bad I have not seen a single buck other than button this summer/fall....the corn stands where I use to photo them...we have hundreds of acres of corn surrounding us now...neighbors logged in the spring and more neighbors preparing to log and the neighbors dog killed all are goats this past March...The main reason I kept them and a billy was deer hunting...the buck would hang around the goats pasture...billy smell and doe started their cycle in August

I'm not sure what this bow season will be like...may have to head to camp after all...but this is a fawning property so I have a lot of doe and a bunch of fawn....where the doe are the buck will be...we'll see

Saw some bucks around my place back end of June, first part of July.........but haven't seen any since. Got does around, so like Badger I'm counting on where there are does, there will be bucks.

GLW...yes it was for they were delivering at the time and the kill was brutal....but as bad as it was ...done and over almost a blessing for us...with this drought I may have been running to take them all to auction this fall...yes at least it would have been quick and we would have been compensated...but a tough decision was made for us ...I have since taken down half the fencing and plowed and planted half the pasture....I will plant the pasture in plots for a few years getting the soil back in great shape while working to put in bigger and more posts...then installing Horse fencing with solar electric strands bottom and top...Mr B likes having animals on the property...may do calves...hopefully prices will come down a bit

Badger, why would the neighbors dog attack your goats? Are you friends with your nieghbor, and did they offer any compensation? That's horrible? Do you think they (dogs) would kill other animals on your property?

She's a bit of a nutter...and we've been to court before...so much drama really...She allows her dogs to run and they pack up...I actually called and warned her and all others with live stock...the morning I found them...thought yotes...but one other neighbor said you best put the cams over the kill and see...It doesn't sound like yotes...so I did..sent the pics to the neighbors e-mail...no response other than two weeks later photos of two dogs in her lawn and a wild report that these we're the dogs not hers and these dogs just attacked her 1200# pet Angus cow...yet did not ever return to the easy goat kill...Because it was winter and ground still frozen...I left the cams over kill for over a week ...just to make sure...only thing that came in were her dogs...crow ..a stray cat..and a fox...No never got compensation for she ran that story of hers to the local police...I had only proof after fact

Well? Sounds like the dogs need to meet a "pack of yotes" and not make it back! >wink, wink< They have the taste of blood, they won't stop now?

GLW is right about them having a taste for blood now.  Nothing in the area will be safe.
