May just come out and vsit you....think I will actually apply for sheep and elk one last time first....I just turned 70 and knees ain't what they used to be! gotta have a horse to get me close and that may not happen where the Elk and sheep live.

That's where those quarts of whiskey come in handy, sore old knees and what ever else gets sore after riding in a saddle all day.

Sundowners" are a good thing....especially when used multiple times in large Quantities!

Splain to me agin what a draw is for turkls?

In nevada as with several other states, you apply for hunting units and they hold a random draw, if your name is selected you recieve a tag for that species and hunt unit.
If you draw you hunt, if you don't draw you don't hunt.....
I like it as it keeps the yahoo's out of the system and the wildlife population strong.

So not having a "draw" in the entire SE including KS, NB, TX and MO is a bad thing???

I may consider that some day. I like hunting new places, I would do it all the time if it wer'nt for the money thing.

Good ol fren from TX invited me out to relieve my sinus from TN pollen and help him kill birds....heading that way on Sat....weather here has given them the lock jaw plus I haven't felt well from pollen to chase them much---just out one morning....maybe rain we are getting will wash the air!
Weird weather down here---four friends went to same place we always go kill out on Osceola and only two killed----got below freezing two mornings!

I am drinking cuz I did'nt get a tag, I am happy as 2 friends drew and asked me to call for them.

Filled out a MO friends Slam afternoon we got there. Got on ranch around 3:30, had him his first bird by 4:30. He ended up with two, other bud got two and I had a ball but no burd. Thurs, last day, I had six gobbling to gether and four more far off....coyotes spooked the close ones at flydown---i was within 70 yds and shud have shot the damn coyote that got within 20 yds of me but birds were still gobbling. Later had two long beards and two Jakes working toward me, boys were about 150 yds and I moved a few feet to better hide and intercept---spooked three hens I had not seen about 60 yds from me which ran back thru gobblers and took them away. Later called in two strutting gobbling Jakes to within 15 yds, passed but they put on a show.
After lunch, saw a strutter with a hen about 800 yds in front of where we park on hillside across pasture. Drove out and around to other side of hill and put on a 500 yd stalk. No bird but saw a coyote running away at about 300 yds. Figured he had run the turkls off, but ease thru scattered mesquite walking back toward vehicle....damn gobbler comes out of weeds and clump of mesquite two steps to my left....thought it was coyote at first....by time I see beard, he is quartering away at full gallop but only about 12 or 15 yds....shud have waited for longer shot---missed....I could hear him laffing when he hit the pasture running again about 400 yds away.Had another strutting for me when he takes off running with a coyote chasing, flys up and lites in a tree 70 yds away. Get him to gobble at calling four times after about an hour but instead of flying down to me , he flys down to two hens who showed up in field. Last bird I worked came over 200 yds without breaking strut, gobbling several times....took over an hour. What a show. When he needs to take 10 more steps, a hen comes in from my lright. I am leaning against a small tree with sunlight on my entire right side. She gets within 20 feet of me and pops into alert position. Gobbler sees her and runs away at full speed! Damn! What a day!
