Check out hogguide.net > Click Here. Tommy runs a nice operation. My Dad and I just got our first GA hogs; ~160 & ~200#. We were looking for meat hogs & have been extremely happy with the results to this point, both with Tommy, his son & the other guides, the operation he has and the eating results of the game we harvested. He likes to get family hunts together: wife/husband, mother/child, father/child. Eight hunters the day we went, 2 first time hog hunters early teens with their Dad's as well as the 2 of us. All of us got animals. Hunt areas basically east of Macon, GA, about 12 miles or so. We processed our own animals. Tommy has processing arrangements for those not willing to get that involved. The camp we stayed at was very well laid out; plenty to eat as well as good accomodations.

I would also talk with the boys at Blue Ghost Outfitters. Their website is www.nightvisionhoghunting.com They run a top notch outfit and are a couple of great guys to hunt with.

Ga. hog hunt

Day 1. I saw 8 come out, but they were all small pigs. John shot a nice one, but only wounded it.
Day 2. Got the dogs out. saw a big hog in the road, John shot at it and missed. Turned the dogs loose and the race was on. Running thru the ga swamps until she got hemmed up. I eased up and poped here with my 44, at which point she charged us making us scatter. she went about 50 feet past us and piled up. I was walking to her and did not get 20 foot before the dogs jumped a boar, the race was on again. The dogs finally bayed it and John was able to crawl thru the bushes until he got close enough to drop it. made for a gereat day sat.
day 3. turned out the dogs and they lost the first one (different set of dogs), but redeemed themselves quickly baying a good eating sized pig for John. Unfortunately 1 of the dogs got heat stroke and we called off the hunt early to take care of the dog (I checked last night and the dog made a full recovery. Barry did say that he would retire the dog after that tho.
hunt included room and board. My costs was 350. no fence, real wild hogs. John is hooked and cant wait to go back. may have to do a repeat in May or june.

Any luck with this, Scott? I'd be willing to come to GA to hunt hogs with you. My wife's sister lives in Kathleen. They don't have a farm to hunt or anything like that, but I bet we could get some coffee from her on the way to the hunt area.

Just a thought.

Hilljack13, what are the requirements, costs, etc for hunting on base? Is there a website with information / regulations? Warner Robbins is near Kathleen, isn't it?

Any of the WMA's in the southern zone of the state has hogs and since they are not a native animal we can hunt them year round. The WMA's located there will have hogs and they want hunters to take all they can.
