I have a friend that is a FFL dealer who was going to order me a Springfield Range Officer for a good price.  Only problem is that he could not get one through his distributer.  I was also looking at the Ruger 1911 but has the same story.  Has anyone used the Remington 1911 R1 Enhanced?

Nope haven't even seen one yet. Your FFL man should be able to get that handgun straight from Springfield if he is having a problem with this distributor. Also checkout http://www.impactguns.com as well as http://www.cheaperthandirt.com as of 3-4 days ago both had them listed as in stock but had no price listed and the only way to see it was to add it to your shopping cart.

I normally only suggest Gun Broker as a place to look as a last resort and am not a fan nor do their prices reflect " real world " prices as they are based on the auction where some people get what I call " auction fever " and I have seen some spend more on a used firearm than what they can buy a new firearm for when getting caught up in the bidding. Actually I don't use nor recommend any of the auction sites for the reasons above and after you throw-in the fees and transfer fees a firearm can quickly become a bad deal. I would stick with the Springfield or a Para Ordnance in 45 acp as they have great prices for a basic GI handgun.

My old boss got a Remington R1 yesterday. He ias a 1911 fanatic and I think this one makes his 10th one he has in his current 1911 inventory. He said it is fantastic and the trigger feels like a pro did a job on it.

I am still looking.  What I want is a 1911 with adjustable sights, beaver tail, flat main spring housing.  I like the Ruger for the price.  I like the Range Officer because the slide is not stainless.  How much would it cost to take the Springfield Mil Spec and upgrade it similar to the Range Officer?

Hey everybody. I'm not new to NAHC, been a life member since 2005. I actually haven't been on the website really at all, though. Anyway, guess it's time to check it out. By the way, I recently purchased a Springfield 1911 Micro-Compact .45 acp. It has nice cocobolo grips, ambi safety, tritium sights, and a nasty little 3" barrel. I love this "little" 1911. It looks good and is fun to shoot as long as your wrists are healthy and strong. I did have a problem with this gun already. Believe it or not the ambi safety fell out......yeah.....FELL out. I only had the gun for a week and shot 35 rounds through it, field stripped and cleaned it twice (after shooting two seperate occasions). I took it to the gun shop and the owner put it back together. I flicked the safety a dozen times or so and it popped out again. Anyway, one month later and a trip back to Springfield Armory, I have my 1911 back. The problem seems to be taken care of so far. Headed to the range tomorrow!

I got the R1 Friday.  I took it out today and fired 32 rounds.  I had one FTF. Took the round and put it in another clip and it fed and fired.  I will need to tighten the grips.

In comparison to my Ruger Mark III,  the R1 sights are easier to pick out.  I will need to work on wrist control.  To get the same accuracy I have on the Mark III.

So I put the Micro Comp A1 through its paces today at the range. Close to 80 rounds through the course of the day. No malfunctions. No FTF. Performed flawlessly, as I expected. More importantly, the major problem is fixed....the safety. Springfield replaced the ambi safety and it is now operating correctly. Had a great day at the range with good friend.
