All I have to say is good luck..... When you apply it says within 12 months, based on the information you provided and products received...... I have only received 1 product to test in over 20 years as a member and LM... "Two in the chest, One in the Head"

When you do get something don't be surprised if it is something that has nothing to do with hunting. I was set some paper towels.

the truth to it is you get what they seed you no matter what they said you would get and if you think this is a place for good tips and stuff just think of this they will also feed you as much BS as they can. But this is a great place to talk to other hunting and outdoors men.

I am a life member. For me a life membership is the best .You have to make up your owen mimd. I have tested a camp light, a 4 in one tool, a knife ,and some cover sent for deer hunting. You can get on here and get questions answer no hunting ,fishing ,guns, bows ,and black powder guns.Sometimes it comes in handy to be condected to so frends that love hunting to. Rod |

I originally signed up for the 3 year deal bc it was only 36 and they threw in a few goodies to boot. After being on the BB for a little bit and getting some info from other members I decided to take th plunge and sent in my paper work for teh life membership this was 5 months after signing up for the 3 year membership. Everyone has thier own preference. The magazine in itself is worth the cost of the 3 year membership IMO. A bad day in the woods is better than a good day in an office. |

I started off being a year member and got to test one product. I did some math and figured out that not only would it be less expensive to be a Life Member, but it also supports the club we all belong to. Plus, like the guys said, when you become a LM you are given some nice gifts. You'll have to do what feels right for you. Either way you choose, glad to see you are a NAHC member!
I have been fortunate to be able to test 4 products in 7 years, but you have to remember that not all of the products are going to be exactly what you may use in the field. You just have to try. Two of the products may not have been for me, but I wanted to test them to help my fellow hunters. I tested them and gave my review and was happy to do it. It's been a while since I tested a product, but there are many members that are testing and we all have to take turns. If I was never given another product to test I am still a proud member and always will be.
Good luck in your decision, Brandon.

I'm on my second year of a 3 year membership, I would like to flip to the life membership. I plan on getting the life sometime in the future when I can afford it. I've only tested 1 thing and it sucked, it was the crow decoy. Other than that I I try my luck on the contests. I won a mossy oak full draw suit off that so far. The value of that is worth way more than the 36 I spent for the 3 year membership. Oh and the full draw suit is in mossy oak tree stand. I've also gotten quite a bit of good information off of the BB, this upcoming season will only be my 3rd season hunting so everyone has helped me out a lot. Thanks everyone.

If you like the magazine and the members forums and are a young person, the life membership is the way to go as you will probably out live what you pay for it. If you are into big game hunting you will get much more than if you are say a duck hunter.
I would take the life membership only after I had paid for an NRA life membership, because without them we won't need the NAHC. By the way, I am a life member of both and I am a duck hunter. |

call them...I complained that members who RENEW should receive the premium gifts that you entice new members with...I received a knife set & hat & the same cookbook I got when I initially enrolled.
My cousin got more goodies but he's been a member longer by over 10 years than I have been.
I plan on renewing IF I get gifts back...I'm not a LM due to the pathetic quality of LM gifts...come on, a canvas gun case & a loud nylon covered vest???? sigh...at least use some namebrand camo for a LM! Brad S from the people's republic of Illinois. |

LOL! I have been LM for 25 years. I filled out the forms, once early on and again a few years ago; have never received a single item to test. I am most envious of those who test various firearms and bows. |

I've been an on and off member (due to funding at renewal time)for quite a few years, and I have had several items to test.I don't recal the exact items but they all seem to come at the wrong time to properly test them! One I remember was an inclinometer that you stick on your bow,or on your range finder, and then glance at the chart for range corrections. It does work,if you have time to consult the chart! They sent it to me AFTER hunting season,so my only testing was from my house windows! Not really great timing! Other items where cheap, small trinket type stuff, and I did get a letter recently asking if I could give an item a fair test, and it was something that I couldn't use so I declined it. Perhaps they have modified thier system to make the tests more accurate by checking first now! I look at it as any item they send me is a bonus, not something I expect! If "FREE GIFTS " are the only reason you can find to join ANY club, maybe you should rethink why you are a member! They should just be icing on the cake NOT the reason for joining! |

I joined not for the stuff they ask you to test or they give you or them fancy hunts they give out as they ain't my type of hunting anyhow.. But I'm here for the company of fellow hunters. The hunts we been on the hunts we're going on and what we like and don't like about the areas we hunt. There is a lot of good folks on here that just like to camp and hunt with out the 1000's of dollar hunts and gear put in their face. Just my .02. SEMPER FI., GUNG HO. |

From the postings I see here many of you are resubmitting an application to field test after several months. If you send an application, be patient. I did what you do several years ago. I called the club abd was told if I submit sanother form, my firsst one is flushed and I go right back to the bottom of the list. I've been in the club since 1985 and over that time have averaged about one test product per year. Nothing big, but most was useful. Patience is the name of the game. Remember, the club now has thousaands of us wanting to test stuff and how much stuff do they have to spread around? |

I have been a life member since the early 80's. Never got any gift of any kind for signing up. Tested a few things, the best being some Berger bullets. If I was only interested in getting material things, I think i would be pretty sorry. This is about getting and sharing information with other hunters. One thing does stick in my craw a bit though. Back when I signed up, one of the main points of the club was to purchase/lease properties in as many states as possible to give hunting access to the members. They had land in a couple of places, and were looking to get more. Nefver hear a thing about that any more. Would like to know what came of that idea? |

7mm Magnum---One correction to your post. The Club (Company) is now owned along with the conglomerate at the bottom by a US company that bought out the Brits several years ago and I think they are based in NYC!!! The only difference now is that US citizens are screwing their own along with a few of our Canadian Brothers |

After reading all the posts over the years about field testing, I never got my hopes up to get something. A few weeks ago I received a SportDog TEK 1.0 GPS and shock collar. They go for $799.00 at Cabelas. I'm really excited about it. It may be the last thing I get to try but its a pretty expensive item and I actually will have a use for it. |

AsIt seems to me that a select few get to test all the good stuff and all the rest of us get is crap!!!!! The last thing I was in line to test was some sort of bug repellant that I had to drive 30 plus miles to a gander mtn store to get myself. I keep inquiring about a test product and they say one is on the way. I say BULL$&";!!!! I am a trophy life member which apparantly doesn't mean jack!!!! |

Well, I have been a Life Member since 2002. And after reading this thread, I feel that I must be doing something right. Maybe some of you are restricting the questionnaire to much. Maybe your are focusing on trying to get a gun or bow with how you answer the questions. I have seen that the longer that I have been a club member, the products seem to be getting better. I don't think that I would be willing to give out a gun for testing to someone on a 1 year membership, there is no guarantee that the member will be back. Once I received a product, I give the old test it in the field like I would normally use the product. I then fill in the survey and make sure that it is returned on time. I am hoping, like the others in this thread, to receive a gun/bow. But I feel it will take more time and keep proving that I am a trustworthy member to conduct honest testing on their products. Just think of this this way, just because you are certified, doesn't make you an expert. All things do take time and you have to prove yourself to others. You may just have to put in your time and be patient. I usually get one product a year to test. And when I get one it usually surprises me that I received something. I just don't think about it. But I do make sure that I have submitted a test request once I finished a previous product and submitted the survey. Time will tell. Good Luck. |

I have been a member for almost a year and was able to test a couple of things. As far as people think you need to do your time before you get to test stuff is bull. If you filled out the field test form under the gear selection you should be good to go. If you haven't done anything recently with it you might need to do it again. They have switch to a different way they do the field testing now through a website called stuffstuff.com, which allows you to pick what you would like to test on each level as you move up. You pick your selections based on your points you earn off of the different thing you are able to do and also give feedbacks on the products that you would receive to test. They will randomly pick you to try out something from your selection then they will email you when they do to let you know. After I did this with the new companie that they work with, I received my first item to test in about 3 months or so. The new way they do field testing has been a recent change that they have done. |
