Hi everybody

After a couple days and the posts not taking in the old one, I figured this new site might be like what happened on a sister site and one the threads are so long, you have to start a new section for it.  So...here it is.

I've been busy since I discovered that, and have enlarged the Lodge a little, hope you don't mind.  There is now a wall for Trophys...or shall I say pictures of your trophies, because I'm sure we all want to keep our big guys at home!  lol  So make sure you come in and post your big ones when you get them, or even your little ones, we'd love to see them.

There is also a big ole fireplace over in the corner to warm up next to on those chilly nights.

Bring a guest or 2 if you'd like, there's a small dance floor if anyone wants to dance, complete with sawdust on the floor!

I made up 3 - 9x13 pans of Cheesecake, and the bar is stocked.  What's your pleasure?  For dinner tonight I made some tenderloin lightly breaded and done in the skillet, mashed taters and white country gravy, black eyed peas, corn or hominy, salad if anyone wants it and fresh hot yeast rolls.  Dig in!

Talk to you soon!

Pamela

Hey Pamela, good to see you back.

Like what you did with the place.  Must have been a ton of dust to clean up first.  Thanks for the cheese cakes.  Just wandering what the rest of ya are going to eat. {insert big grin smilie here}

Hey great to see ya boys in here!  Thanks for the drink Mo and the compliments, yep, there was quite a bit of dust, but hey....I cleaned this time.  ;)  lol

Now G8R Hed, what on earth are you doing in Missouri?!?!?!  HOW did you know what I had for dinner tonight??  Just too weird.

A bit of a newsy item...I wrote 2 articles one about our Archery season that just opened.  I really didn't think they'd be published, but they were, here's the links if anyone wants a read:

I thought it was pretty cool.  I'd have done better if I really thought they'd publish them.  Now I'll have to brush off my keyboard for the next time.  ;)

Take care guys and enjoy the cheesecake, there's cherry, blueberry or strawberry topping in the fridge if ya want some on it!

Wow the place looks great but most must be out hunting and not spending any time in here.  Is there any of that cheesecake left?  I love cheese cake.

Has anyone seen my hunting boot that fell off the back bumper of my truck.  SIGH.  Yup you heard me right I have lost one boot off the bumper.  My wife found only one and no one has said anything about finding the other.

Sorry I have not been around but I was having trouble get re registered for some reason.

Any way hope you all have a great season.  Also Does anyone ever talk to Deb, Steeve Terry's wife?  I was thinking about her and wondering how she was?

Hi Still

Nice buck you've got there.  Nope, haven't found any extra boots down here.

Yup, still got a little cheesecake left.  Help yourself.  Bars open, alcoholic or non, fully stocked.

Oh was that yours SL.  Sorry.  That thang stunk up the place so bad I burned it on the spot.  Then I was scared the EPA was going to come lookin for me cause of all the fowl pollutants I put in the air.  Luckily the wind was blowing south and those southern boys didn't mind.

Yup that is my buck.  Actualy my very first buck.  Got hard to get a deer up here after that year as they switched to a bucks only license and you have to be drawn for a doe tag.  bucks are big up here but sly and hard to find so a lot of hunters go a lot of years with out one shot.  Season opener on Monday Oct. 1 up here.  Only 5 more sleeps as the kids would say.

Thanks for the cheese cake it was good.

If I can get this to work here are a couple more pics of that deer.

Shiete fire fella's! Save the match's! We got us a lovely lady give'n this ole lodge a make over! (big smile since we have no smilies) It sure is good to see this place again after I almost closed it down! (I reckon you know my true identity now!)  I can now see an influx of new patrons, to pick on of course! I can smell the newbies now! (another big smilie face)  I think I'll have a cold frosty mug of Hiney, no, Hien, er, Hinerk, dagnabit, I mean a Hienekin and some Captain Black fer me pipe. Now I'm going to pull up a stump next to the fireplace and wait for someone to holler supper time!

Someone answer a question or two for me. Question 1. Under my name it say's joined at a certain date. Where did that date come from? I joined way back in the 80's!

Question 2. How did you and where did you get an avatar?

Question 3. Uh, I forgot what I was going to ask!!! I'll think of it after I have few vittles and a couple cold ones!!!

Hello all!! Been awhile since I've been in here, and there sure are alot of changes. I saw one of the old rockers on the front porch from the old place. That's the only way I knew I'de found the right place.Well lookie there!! It's Ed's old "Golden Spatula" encased on the wall above the kitchen door. That ole' rascal, I'll bet he hung it up there and brought the old rocker and put it on the porch.  I'll buy a round for the house, and some cigars to leave for Ed and Two Tales under the counter by the till.(just like the old place) : )  I'll be back to check in more often.    Drink up!!!   Mikey

Shoot me your email addy or email me and I'll give ya the details! And thanks a heap for the cigars. TT's and I will surely enjoy em! The ole WQSS is in the HOUSE!!!! Drinks are on me pal! And you did notice the rocker and "Golden Spatula"! Now all we need is a chef. We still have some danged good cooks like Still, G8, GRAHAMMIN and numerous others. I don't think we'll have any trouble finding a chef! Well, I think I'll grab a bottle of hootch and hit the ole rocker and send up some smoke for our lost brothers and sisters doing service abroad. Take care all and God bless.

WQSS rubs his eyes,in disbelief,  ii's  my ole' cuz GRIZ!! Well I'll be danged, this here internet thingy still reaches into the hollers of Kantuck!! Glad to hear from ya Ed, and I hope life is treating ya well buddy! Drinks are on me cuz,and I'm glad to supply the cigars.: ) Maybe our buds TT and TO will see this and give us a holler.(hope they do) To all that don't know(newbies) Ed aka Grizzy ran this establishment (The Newbie Lodge) for many years. Hence his "Golden Spatula" is enshrined above the kitchen doors. He's a hash slingin' rascal and a  friendlier fella you will never meet, and I can vouch for that. Ed is one of the first people I met here in the club and a valued friend. So all you newbies and "old salts" like GLW come on in and give us a shout. We'll tell a story or two about "Rocky", Drinks for all!! Ed, my addy is gess9287@bellsouth.net   Anyone wanting a NAHC flag should see the misc. post and contact Danny Poole as seen in the post. Ed ,holler at your ole' Georgia cuz anytime, Mikey

Howdy Ya'll!!  Come on in and take a load off.  I know it's early in the mornin' but shoot, some of them big ole boys can eat any time.  Making homemade donuts for mornin'.  Just finished some hot apple pies, so if ya like it hot, better grab it now.

Speakin' of likin' it hot...What's this about hiney in a mug?  How in the world do ya fit a hiney in a mug?  hahaha  No, don't tell me.

Breakfast will be startin' up right soon so all you hunters can get out in the woods and bring back them tenderloins Momma likes so much!!  So breakfast is Biscuits and Gravy, Hash browns, choice of bacon, sausage or both, got some cheesy scramblers on there (eggs), and fix your own drink.

While your out there, watch out for them feral hogs boys.  They been tearing the place up somethin' fierce!  Looks like a disc plowed all back there.  Got the sow, good 200+ pounder and 2 piglets about 50 pound.  7 more to go and a boar that from the looks of him would go about 450-500 pounds.  Looking at the teeth on that sow....I'm packing and carrying a big flashlight when out after dark!

Hunt safe!

Man, that was a tough job put'n those new rockers out front! Half a dozen of em! I put another half dozen on the back porch as well. And the beer truck just pulled up! How's that for service?! I called in a grader, bulldozer and backhoe to help fill in those craters those pesky hogs made out back. I'm trying to get ahold of GW to bring "Rocky" back to help fly over them hogs and coral them rascals in a hold'n pen! I saw "Bruno" upstairs take'n a nap. He might help Rocky when ever he shows up!

Well, I'm off job hunting right now. I'll take a cold one with me. See y'all tomorrow.

Before I forget, WQSS, did you get my email on the flag issue?

Hey Miss Pamela, The "Hey Buddy, Can You Spare a Buck or Two" is a good one. I liked that one. They were all good! Deer season starts Saturday here.  The yard might need mowing and the fence might need mending, but that will have to wait!! Here's a round of drinks for you, all the Newbies and the regulars!! Miss Pam, tell your brother a "BIG  THANK YOU"  from myself and family, who appreciates  what he does for our Country. I wish I could buy him a KEG of beer : )

Where is that ole Griz? Ed, you out there? Kantuck done went internet not???

Pam, liked them all but the saying on the flag was my favorite.  I have two cousins over and have had a few other friends and other family member over seas.  I really feel for the conditions that they are living and fighting in.  I just wish more people like the ones here on the BB would support them.  After all they are fighting for our freedom and some even voluntered (sp?) to be over there, because they believe that is what is right.  Your flag just sums it all up in not so many words.  I would have to say my 2nd favorite is the do you have a buck to spare.  God bless our troops.

Thank you all for the comments which I will take as compliments.  I wrote the poem that is with the old fashioned looking flag one night when I was online here and catching a bunch of....grief, I will say.  There are all the naysayers who simply won't believe how horrible our Soldiers are being treated.  I've since found many other Military persons and many sites of retired officers who are speaking out.  Good for them!!  And one I found this morning clearly points out how they are not paying our Military when they come home injured and several people they tried to pin the 'cowardice' label on and have them....executed as a person who commited a treasonace (sp) act, when in fact it was PTSD and not cowardice at all!  My brother should be released....they say now...looking towards end of Nov or December.  Our local paper has been 'investigating' things over the past several weeks and is supposed to have an article this week or next on it.  (We only have a once weekly paper, does that tell you how rural we are?  lol)

I will certainly give my Brother your thanks.  My Brothers are my heros.  Someone mentioned that some of the troops fighting over there volunteered for it, yes, that is true.  My eldest Brother, the one we lost on Valentine's Day, volunteered.

Now...on to happier subjects.  Belly up to the bar guys, drinks on me.  Got some fresh hot apple pie, best you've EVER had, I guarantee!!  Got some more cheesecake for our cheesecake lovers.  And for those Chocolate lovers....fudge topped brownies.  (Yes, we have homemade vanilla ice cream for with the pie, brownies, or plain if you'd like.)

:D   ~Till later

Oh...hey....before I go, I wanted to ask, has anyone seen or does anyone have this Hunting Secrets book, and do you like it?  <a href="http://manyangels.deersecret.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=19631964" target="_top">Click Here to see it</a>
It sounds very interesting, and the price isn't bad really.

Pamela,  When I said that some of the soldiers over seas volunteered to be there, it was not meant to be a bad thing.  My aunt's boyfriend thought that was want he needed to do.  He needed to be over there fighting for his country.  It is these men and women that I think need even more support from us as well as all of those that are over there away from their famlies.  I am sorry to hear about your brother.  Like I said before I did not mean it out of disrespect for our troops.

Pray every chance you get for our troops that are both over seas in war zones as well as here at home because you never know when something else might happen.

Franklin, don't worry, if you upset me in any way....you will DEFINATELY know it!  ;)  You didn't upset or offend me in any way, I was just putting in my 2 cents that yes, people do volunteer.

Hey Mikey, thanks for the drink.

GLW, How ya doin cuz? Nice ta see ya in here again bro! Man I just heard from our old freind Ed. He's still kickin' and doing good. As for Rocky, he has been eatin' up all the beernuts and such but he's been kinda hiding out these days. Dunno if that pesky, fur bearing varmint is just waiting on the holidays to "Crank it up" so I'll leave him some pecans and see if he takes the bait.

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing well.  Wanted to stop in and wish everyone a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!  And to let you know...MY BROTHER IS HOME!!!!  I'm hoping to see him over the weekend.  I put a post up in the Members Helping Members section about it, and a prayer request.

Hope everyone is doing good in the deer woods!  I haven't gotten one yet.  :(

Tomorrow's Menu:

Breakfast;  Homemade Cinnamon Rolls, eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, choice drink.

Dinner:  Turkey (Bet you didn't guess that one!  ;)) mashed taters with good ole country gravy, noodles, stuffing, candied yams, black eyed peas and hominy for the veggies, salad, pickles, olives and other condiments.  Hot Rolls and butter.

Desert Homemade Peach Cobbler done a different way.  It's my Best of Both Worlds Peach Cobbler.  It has a bottom and side "crust" like a pie, but has loads of that awesome cobbler crumble topping on top!  :D

Enjoy and if you can be good, come here.  ;)  :D  :)

That last part should have said

If you CAN'T behave...(as in where you are) then come in here!  ;)  I sure don't want this to be a prissy Lodge!!

OMG...yesterday I was leaving Wally World, and got in a big ole fight with a man in the parking lot.  (He started it)  People were staring and eveything.  Here is this itty bitty 4' 10" gal (me) telling this big 6'4 195# guy how I'm going to kick his ass.  (And I'd have done it too!!)

Have a Happy Turkey day...go get a deer!  :D

Miss Pamela, sorry I missed them fine vittles you made! I'll make up for it latter, promise. You know, that arguement you had with the 6'5", 195# fellar must have been over a park'n space! If it was, shame on him! Maybe you should have aimed a little low and hit him right where it counts....................the tennis balls! Then followed up with a kick to the kneecaps, hehehehe! Sure would have liked to been there to defend a lady in distress. But from the sounds of things, you didn't need any!

On a personal note, WQSS, thanks for the talk the other night bro! Now, just when are ya going to send me that package? hehehehehe!!! Check your email buddy!

Now, if'n anyone needs me, I'll be back later. I'll just grab me a couple cold frosty ones, a couple cigars from the humidor and head for the lazyboy. Tenn plays Kentucky, football, right  about now. See y'all later! By the way, I don't care what ya call me, just don't call me later fer supper!

You fellars see that?!? I'm not sure what it was but it sure broke the danged speed limit not to mention sound barrier! And I never heard such a scream! Not from a wild cat in heat, screech owl or even a woman for that matter! And what's all that on the ceil'n fan? Kinda looks like fur and sweet tater pie! Oh well, Libby will get it clean.

Tonight's supper is:

Wild hog baby back ribs, cheesy augrautin taters, a chefs salad, tossed, not stirred, and sweet peas w/pearl onions! For dessert, a double German layer cake with Moose Tracks ice cream!

Anyone seen WQSS around lately?

That was a close one fellas, I lost Rocky when I ran through the Lifer's Lodge! He stopped when he saw a freshly made Pecan pie! I heard some commotion, but I wasn't gonna wait around to see the "carnage". Whew! I could use a brewksy, and a rest in the rocking chair. I think it's time to decorate for Christmas around here. What do you all think?  Maybe a light show that can be seen from space! Course we would have to "tap" into some extra electricity. HMMM? I know, while Rocky keeps the Lifers busy I'll sneak back and run a 220 line off of their power and string it back here! They will never notice, ya think? Live Dangerously!!!

Paul, I sent ya a PM Cuz!

My Gawwwd!!  I don't know what's worse, waiting and refreshing for the past several days, and over an hour just tonight, to be able to get on here to post, or...OMG....being called a "giiiirrrrrrlllllll" and said my fight was over a.....ewwww....parking place!  LMAO

No, matter of fact, I was on my way OUT of the store, and the greeter stopped me to check my 2 mile long receipt for my potatoes, wipes and toilet paper on the bottom of the cart that obviously weren't in bags.  I pulled CLEAR OVER to the side of the entry area so I wouldn't be in anyone's way.  After waiting about 4-5 minutes while she couldn't read the receipt, a man comes BARRELLING out of the store with one little bag in his cart, shoves past between me and the wall, ripes my bags of bread out of the cart making bread go everywhere, and proceeds to beging cussing ME out for being in "his way".  I said "I" am not IN his way, and besides, the door greeter is the one who stopped me.  He began to get more colorful.  The door greeter was really embarrassed and gave me the receipt and said, I can't find the stuff on there, but go ahead.  So, I booked it out the door, and yelled for the man to stop, he's NOT going to act that way with ME and get away with it.  (He has serious issues with women obviously!)  He still continued flapping his arms and his mouth.  By this point I wasn't in any mood to put up with him, I had gotten bad news from the Dr, and he was a perfect mouthy specimen to take it out on.  LOL  Not really but it sounds good huh?  I proceeded to tell him to bring his b@stard a$$ over and I'll KICK his a$$.  By this point, people are stopping, staring, and trying to figure out why this lil 4' 10" thing is speaking like that to the 6'5" man. I also told him next time I see him I'll beat him over the head with my bread, then he wouldn't have to worry about tearing it out of my cart and spewing it all over the floor.  lol

When I got home, I told DH about it, and he was GLAD he wasn't with me.  He's never seen me 'really upset' before.  To him, just hearing about it embarrassed him, and....he thought I 'over reacted'.  (roll eyes)  Well....if someone had ripped your bags of bread from your cart when you weren't anywhere near in the way and proceeded to cuss you out, what would YOU do!!

The news I got from the Dr was that the got the results of the full body scan back, they have found that I now have Scoliosis in my cervical and lumbar spine regions...pretty bad.  That I now have Chronic Arthritis in ALL the joints in my body, which helps explain why with being on 6 different pain meds I still live in terrible pain.  And...the kicker...I have Fibromyalgia.  Yesterday I got the next round of shots in the back of my head.  All the rest of yesterday and today I have not been able to turn my head to the sides.  They say you hurt worse for the first 3-5 days, then it kicks in and starts working.  I hope.  First round I got went in at the skull bones and into the nerves.  This time they went in and into the joints themselves.  ALL this from that damned car accident.  We had to sell off our vehicles and stuff to be able to pay "on" the medical bills....still owe over $50,000 and still need at least 2 more surgeries.  Yesterday was DH Birthday.  He was out hunting when our lawyer called.  When he came home I got to tell him the news, Happy Birthday Honey, we are being counter sued!!  Yep, the lady who was busy on her cell phone, ran a red light and hit us is now suing US because we were in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Imagine!

Still working on my web sites to help my brother out.  It's about the only thing I'm able to do.  Have to keep getting up and walking it off, get stoved up so easily.  Can't go out and hunt.  Waiting for that big 12 point to walk up and tap on my window and say HERE I AM...TAKE ME!!  But...I'm not holding my breath.

I'm going to hit post now, and I hope it doesn't lose this in the twilight zone before it posts.  I'm not likely to stay up another hour and a half to get back in tonight.

Anyone getting any deer?  I hope so.  Good luck all!!

Pamela

Miss Pamela, I'm sorry for call'n ya a girl! My deepest apology! I still believe you should have shot that s.o.b. between the legs with a nine iron or what ever size foot ya have! I sure wish you the best in your healing of medical problems. Shots in the head?!? Good night Gurtrud! I can't even imagine what that would feel like. I'm sorry you have to go through the pain and wish I could take it away. What's you favorite food? Maybe I can whip up a batch for you to make you feel better. How bout a chocolate pudding cake! Tell DH Happy belated Birthday. As for the counter sueing b   itch, some folks have no regards except for themselves! As for that 12 pt tap'n on your window! If it does, invite him in for supper! Just don't tell him he's supper!!! I haven't had any luck this yr. I've seen almost all does and one spike buck! Terrible yr here in Ky for big bucks. There's been over 3000 deer found dead from EHD here in Ky. And more being found! One fella I know shot a big buck and when he walked up to it, he said it couldn't have weighted more than 100 lbs!! He doesn't know how it held up it's head it was so sick! He tagged it but didn't eat it. His dogs wouldn't even touch it! Even I've seen some sick does. So sick, heads hung low, panting, ribs sticking out, drinking lots of water. I watched a doe drink water for over 4 hrs one day while at work! Well, better get off my soapbox. See, now THAT is what makes this site so cool.  No hard feelings, and everyone has a sense of humor!  Love it!!

Well, my shoe size is a kids 2, so that wouldn't get me far, but I could still do some damage!  ;)  :D  And now that I'm only 4' 10" I may have to jump to do it, but I'd do it!  :D

Thanks for the encouragement.  hehe  Been awhile since I went back at someone like that....kinda felt good standing up for myself!!  I think I grew 6" LOL

Yeah....it sucks that people are that way, I couldn't believe they got an attorney to write it up.  Basically what the 25 pages say is, Yes, I'll admit I was wrong and ran the red light IF you are also held responsible by the court for not missing me while I ran the red light and hit you.  Sorry Honey....with all I've been dealing with and now due to the junk I deal with as a result of this I broke 5 ribs in 2 places, nope....not getting off that easy if I have anything to do with it.

How did I break 5 ribs?  Well....I've been telling all these Specialists that my hands arms and legs are numb and tingly (like when they fall asleep and are trying to wake up) very irritating, but after 10 months, it almost seems normal now.  I also told them that sometimes my arms/hands won't function.  They didn't believe me, and say all the tests are coming back clear.  I've had it happen several times.  Once, DH was out of bed and upstairs before me, and I was basically paralyzed....arms wouldn't work to get me out of bed.  So....4 hours later when they would work, I came upstairs.  Bless his heart, he felt so bad.  I don't sleep much...too much pain.  He thought I fell back asleep and was glad I was sleeping so long!  LOL  Another time I had a roast in the oven, went to get it out to baste, got it 4" from the top of the stove, arms quit functioning and I had roast and scalding broth all down the front of me and in my shoes and everything.  Not fun!  Well, last Tuesday I started to get out of bed.  DH is a sound sleeper.  I was swinging my legs out and lifting up and my arms quit working.  Something told DH to wake up NOW (thankfully) and he looked over to see me go up in the air and belly flop to the floor.  Bed sits 3 1/2' off the floor, so I have a stool to get in and out.  My ribs connected with the stool, and ALL air left me as I heard the most awful noise.  I never saw hubby move so fast!!  He was out of bed, around it, and almost caught me before I hit!!  Family Dr is sending me back to Springfield this Friday to see the Neurologist this Friday again.  She says something is DEFINATELY wrong and he needs to find out what.  At least they did find that some of my problems are because I now have Scoliosis in my cervical and lumbar spine, arthritis throughout all my joints and Fibromyalgia.

But if DH gets a deer, by golly I'll still butcher that baby!!  We have ice here right now.  But not seeing deer out in the daytime.

So sorry to hear about the ehd.  What is that?  Is it like the CWD--Chronic Waste Disease?  That's bad stuff!  I hope they can get it under control.  Too bad that guys big buck was ill.  Was he able to get a mount?

Take care all!!  Oh...btw...I'll eat most anything except brussel sprouts.  Dr says I shouldn't, but hey...this is virtual food, it's all good.

Round of Drinks on me, what'll it be?

Dang!! Miss Pam we're gonna have ta  fix ya up a special barstool! One that won't tip over and has a seatbelt and airbags just in case!!! My gosh gal, I hope ya get ta feeling better. Hope the doc's in Springfield will find the problem. I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer for ya.

Ed, ya Grizzled old rascal I sent ya a package Saturday. Let me know when you get it cuz. Drinks on me and I think I'll fire up the outside grill and BBQ some yardbird and brats for the patrons. Tator salad, baked beans and garlic bread on the side. We gotta finish decorating for Christmas too. Ed's massive tree will require 1000's of lights!!! I'm gonna work on the outside lights, but first I gotta fix the hole in roof "somebody" caused bringing (crane lifting) in the tree.By the way "somebody", the pool table is somewhere under the tree!!

GLW, Rocky has built a nest in the tree, check that a "condo". He hasn't figured out the plumbing issue yet. How do I know? One word, .........Raisons!!! That fur bearing varmint is on my list. It ain't my Christmas list. :-)  Mikey

OMG My ribs hurt from laughing.  A seatbelt and an airbag, LMAO!!  I'll also need a step stool to get up on it!  ;)  haha

Thanks for the thoughts Hon, I might have to cancel the appt Friday.  It's for 4:45 and it's an hour and a half drive.  They are saying we are expecting more ice and chance of snow.  The first 30 minutes of the trip is up and down the mountains and hair pin curves with no guard rail.  I couldn't handle that drive if the road was icy.  I get nervous enough on clear days.  The absolute worst part of the road is where there is no guard rail.  And in other parts of the County where it's straight road, no ditch or anything, they have miles of guard rail!!  This section has about a 350' drop...there is no shoulder and it's a section about 1/2-3/4 of a mile.

Boy, you are doing good, it's looking a bit Christmasy in here.  But, we need to get that roof patched like you said, it's been raining constantly and really cold!!  (20's daytime)

Have a good one

Well I got the roof patched up where ":somebody" crane lifted the Christmas tree in. I hooked my truck up with a chain and drug the pool table out from under it. Geez!! I've strung some lighted garland around the the porch railing and have lights on the roof and eaves of the lodge. There's a Big Santa out there with Rudolph and some cool looking spiral trees. The best part is the Nativity scene. All done up with white lights, Joseph, Mary, and the Christ child surrounded by the adoring Wisemen. I tell ya, it brings a smile to my face to look upon it.

Glad ya got a laugh out of the special barstool Miss Pam :-) Hope things will look up for ya gal. In the meantime, we'll use your new "customized" barstool to wheel ya out to look at the Nativity scene out in front of the lodge. When you look upon it, you know "hope" is looking back at you . :-)

OKAY!! Spiked eggnog (rum) and summer sausage, cheese, crackers and cookies for the patrons. Ya'll get in here and dig in to the food and help with the decorating!! GLW, Do something with that Critter Rocky!!!! He';s trying to add a swimming pool to his Condo in our tree!!!

Won't that be original? An Oak Tree Christmas Tree just for Rocky.....

No Bruno you cannot mark this Christmas tree - and none of you other fellas either - especially Big Dawg.....no where is that rascal Big Dawg anyhow???

Very good to be back here and see your grinnin' faces (couldn't post for awhile-it was too darn slow

Kimmy!!!!

So good to see you back on here my dear.

The better half is doing well.  The bun is growing bigger and bigger.  We'll find out early next month what the sex is.  We're keeping our fingers crossed for a baby girl.  Course, she'll turn out to be a tomboy with the two older brothers.

Now it's not morning time, but I'll take one of those bloody mary's and give me an extra shot of tobassco please.

Mickey, got the decal today bro, looks great! Thank you!

Everyone be safe and give your loved ones some extra special attention.

Paul glad ya like the decal bro! I hope our ole buddy Ed comes in for a round. That rascal has been layin' low round here ever since the big tree got here. Think I'll light a big fire in the fireplace and find a comfy spot to sit with my drink and reflect for awhile.

...anyways......

We only get down to the good ole Lukas Liquor Superstore a few times a year but we always have a good time there. They know that the way to sell that stuff is to let people try it........

Last time we went in they had a representative of a Brazilian company peddling his rum. He had a little table set up and was making up little samples for everone that came in. We had come in to stock up on scotch for the holidays but left with a bottle of Brazilian rum too. Tastes like a cross between a rum and a taquila. I think he said it was made out of sugar cane.

Lukas Liqure!  That's where the adults go to play when the little kiddies are at Chucky Cheese.  Well, I guess you have to be from around here to understand that.  The two buildings share a wall.  When I've had enough of the chaos at CC, I go to Lukas.  Saturdays are the best with the free samples.  Yep, momma has to drive daddy and the kids home after that.

What do ya say MO! Long time pard. Glad ya stopped in. Especially after going to CC's! Speaking of food, I've got supper ready so anytime y'all get them hunger pangs, grab your platter, some silver and commence to dig'n in! The bar is open from here on out to the new year!!! Here's what's for supper:

Venison steak in sherry sauce, fried taters w/saute'ed onions and melted cheese poured over top, fried skillet corn, cornbread and/or yeast dinner rolls. For dessert, a black walnut cake.

Steak recipe:

1/2 cup sherry

3 Tbsp butter

salt & pepper

1 Tbsp chopped parsley

1 Tbsp chopped chives

1 Tbsp quince or currant jelly

1/8 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp sugar

Trim excess fat from steaks. Sprinkle salt, pepper and sugar on steak. Saute' steaks in 10 in. pan over med heat, in hot butter about 3 or 4 min on each side until med rare or well done. Remove from heat and place on warm plate. Pour off fat. Deglaze pan w/sherry. Pour over steaks and serve.

Well, I gotta run w/my brew. I've gotta go feed the horse's! If y'all hear ""Hi Yoh silver, AWAY!!!" pay no never mind. Just send Tonto after me and I'll return as quick as the wind or as fast as Rocky in a tornado!!

Sure am glad Ed is servin' up those delicous deer steaks. We din't get no steaks this year - ALL BURGER. There wasn't a scrap of fat on the deer and the meat was so rubbery you couldn't hardly chew it. Makes GREAT enchiladas though!

Glad you liked it G8. Sorry you had to eat "soft" food, lol. Poor thing. I felt sorry for you so I fixed up another batch o' goodies!

For tonights supper, we're haven-

Smoked wild boar w/stuffed portabella mushrooms and garlic mashed taters, sugar snap peas w/baby carrots and a chef salad and yeast rolls. For dessert, I fixed banana cream pie and a chocolate pudding cake.

Here's the recipe for the stuffed portabella's:

1 cup chopped onion

1 10oz. package chopped, frozen spinach, thawed & squeeze dry

4 oz. feta cheese, crumbled ( about 3/4 cup)

4 oz. cream cheese, room temp.

1/4 tsp dried, crushed red pepper

mushroom caps about 1 1/2 in. in diameter

Preheat oven 375. Cook bacon until crisp on stove top. Crumble bacon when done. Save about 1/4 cup plus 2 tsp of drip'ns. Heat 2 tsp of bacon fat over med heat. Add onion & saut'e until tender. Put in med bowl and cool. Mix in bacon, spinach, feta, cream cheese and red pepper. Season w/salt and pepper to taste.

Line 2 large bake'n sheets w/foil. take mushrooms and reserved 1/4 cup bacon fat in large bowl to coat. Sprinkle mushrooms w/salt & pepper. Place mushrooms round side down on bake'n sheet. Bake mushrooms until centers fill w/liquid (approx 25 min.) Turn mushrooms over. Bake until brown & liquid evaporates. (about 29 min. again)

Turn mushrooms over again. Spoon 1 heap'n tsp of mixture into mushroom cavity. Bake at 375 for about 10 min. Let cool a little then enjoy!

I don't know about the rest of you but after all the chef'n I've done, I aquired a mighty thirst! I'm grab'n a couple cold frosty ones and head'n for the back porch to watch the sun set and the birds go to bed. Catch y'all later.

Grizzly - put your feet up here on the ottoman and put your head back and drink this ice cold beer.

Hey all - I just posted bale for Grizzly and brought him back from the Federal Pen. holding station....boy it was rough - they were just getting ready to serve steak and lobster and champagne' to everyone at the Pen.  THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH OUR GOVERNMENT!

Sounds like a new movie "All the President's Tree!"  Grizzly what provoked you to such a stunt? Oh you did it for Rocky - well I never heard of such a sweet jesture....and Rocky is brought to tears by your kindness.

Shots of Bailey's Irish Cream round the house and a toast to Grizzly for his adventure of cutting the Big azz tree down off the President's lawn  =)

Now let's see - lets have some rawhack and some fresh shucked oysters - we'll start bringing in the New Year early today.....later on G8RHED and I are gonna' cook up some black eyed peas, cornbread, and some turnip greens and pork.  First let me open myself a Guiness.

From February thru September, we hold our breaths - waiting - waiting for the "signs of the season"...and then they begin to show - The air crisps up, leaves change.....Then......Quiet as a whisper, "It Is Time To Hunt!"

A figure looms on the horizon...he make his way to the front door, the fimiluarity of the place hastens distant memories...it has been a long time sense this fellow crossed that threshhold...the bar, apperently empty, looks some what different and strange, yet the flames from the logs in the grand old fireplace makes it all seem the same...he crosses to the bar runs his hands over the smoot wood and then slips around the end, reaches beneth the sink enclosure, finds the li'l trap door and opens it, the aroma of fine tobaco reaches his nose, he reaches in and pulls out 2 fine cigars, moves a bottle or 2 from the front of the bar shelf and finds a dusty bottle of Grandma's Wildroot Brandy...with a last look around he crosses to the back door and slips silently in to the darkness...

Ed, Who was that shadowy figure? Could it be our ole bud Two Tales? That rascal done slipped up on us while we were out. He ain't forgot where them stogies was though did he? Well I'll restock the secret box and I see you got another bottle of Wild Root in case Ralph err.... I mean "the shadow" returns. I recall he likes a good brandy also, so I'll dust off a bottle and leave it out on the table by the fireplace for him. Where's Miss Pam and GLW? I took all the Christmas stuff down except for the tree. Couldn't move that giant thing by myself. Besides,  Rocky's done built a dadgum mansion in it. GLW musta helped him hook up cable TV!!! He was watching the football highlights on his own little TV up in the tree!!!

Here  I is!!! LOL!!!!!  That cable wasn't cheap either!  Danged rat had to have High Definition!!  He didn't want to miss the Giants game!!!!   Heck, Two tales is probably up shooting red stags in Maine right about now!  I wouldn't mind one myself!  Well, what in tarnation are we gonna do about this huge tree with the condo in it?  I would hate to tear down such a great work of art?  Instead of tearing it down, maybe we could move it outside, plant it in the yard and keep that rat from living in the lodge and stealing booze while we are away?  Maybe he would meet a nice neighbor squirrel and start a family?  Holy crap! What am I saying!!!!!!!  One holy of terror tree rat is enough!!!!  I say put that boy in the military, maybe that will teach him some discipline!  Of course they just might might teach him to fly low ground support combat missions so that might just sneak up and bite us in the ass!  Ok I'm confused, I need a drink!  Make it a double!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, I'll refill the mixed nuts bowl on the bar for the furball. Guess I'll put a couple more logs on the fire and warm up a spell. Think I'll pour a stiff shot of good sippin' bourbon to watch the fire with  Maybe someone will stop by for drink after while so I'll leave the bottle out

Silence cuts through the night, the gentel breeze whispering down off the mouutain is the only sound one can hear...the stars appear so close that you can almost touch them...the moon, now heading for it's dieing turn, is bright lighting the paths, known only by a few, in a fuzzy milky glow...through this eerie glow comes the handsom stranger. without a sound, like a cat he moves through the heavy wooden door and makes his way to the long polished slab of wood were so many folks have stood and wondered at the mistery of this man...he moves with the ease of long memories to the back of the bar, reaches below finds the hinden stash of cigars draws out two and then looks for a bottle of "Wild Root Brandy" he see several were there had only been one..as he selects one from the back he thinks to himself "Ed, you ol' chicken checker, you are my friend" he smiles as he looks around and makes his departure through the back door and heads to his spot in the woods...as the ghost of his 3 legged dog joins him, he fades into the night like a shadowy spirit.

As time passes, one may wonder; what have I done?, who am I?, and what could I have done better?..is life what we make of it? or is it a predestined plan set in motion millions, yet billions, of years ago?  what is reality and what is imagination?  are we supposed to know or even try and figure it out?  I don't often ponder these points and when I do, I take solice in the night...for the night is my friend. In darkness lies the unknown and this is what most fear, not I, I find it interesting and welcoming, calling me, wispering my name, begging me to investigate the shadows...as do I find all things in nature interesting...I feel the caresses of of the wind, and the cleansing of the rain and snow. I smell life in the soil and hear the heart beat of the world...these things I find in the night amongst the darkness and the shadows hidden away from the ravages and riotious doings of man...so I go tonight into the darkness, to do as my forefathers did from the brging of time, and burn the leaves to carry prayers upon the smoke and make offerings to the moon, sun, wind and soil so that my soul will be complete...to my friends; I bid you this advise "listen to the night" for she has many things to say and so few that will hear her...

 from a brotherhood long forgotten,

Two Tales.

Wow! Look at this place. It's a virtual ghost town! Surprised the town board hasn't boarded up the joint! I'll just grab the key from under the mat and have a sneak peek at what the innerds look like. As I open the creaking door, bats come flying out, the mice go run'n helter skelter Little thief:9095and the cobwebs and spiderwebs sway with the breeze from the open door! I head straight for Libby's closet. After I dust her off, I put in some fresh batteries and off she goes to the kitchen. I dust and polish the bar and.........................."What in the H E double hockey sticks is goin on in the kitchen! Pots and pans fly'n ever where! LIBBY! Have you gone nuts?! Actually she has! She's loosing her elbow bolts and her fingers are coming off! Better get the oil can and craftsmans tools out. After a quick fix on Libby, she's hum'n right along! This joint will be up a run' in short order! Now that the place is ready for customers again, I reckon I'll put up a flashy sign out front that declares this place open.......................................

"I declare that this here joint is open for business once again! So drag your sorry azz's back in here! The food is great, the drink plentiful, and the pole girls are back! So take off your shoes and pull up a stump! It's go'in to be a wild ride!!! Oh yeah! The drinks are on the house for this here re-opener!"

There; that ought to do it! If'n someone can't read a 40 ft x 40 ft flashy sign, they need bigger glass's! I'll just step behind the bar, put the apron on and Libby the Liberal back in the closet and wait fer someone to come stroll'n in! I better fill the hume.......the humm........hughe..................the blasted cigar box back up before TT's comes in. The wildroot is stocked up also! Oops! Better get the grub and the silver on the table before everone comes a stroll'n in! Man that smells good! Think I'll grab me a platter of biscuit n gravy, wild boar sausage, grits, mater and home fries, bacon, eggs over easy and Texas toast with marmalade! After a meal like this, I won't be able to eat for........................at least another hour!

In the light of the nearly full moon, the quite old building stood casting it's shadow right to the edges of blackness. The path leading to the once grand doors is choaked and littered with dead and dying weeds...the old rocking chair upon the wide poarch, shows the year of neglect with it's tattered tapastry hanging in shreds...dry leaves dance in the slight breeze like fairies on a moonbeam...that heavy oaken door stands slightly ajar...tempting those who venture near to enter but yet forbidding and cold, making one hesitate...swinging the door wide one sees the vast open room where voices full of cheer and laughter once rang out,,,the glow of the moon shining through the dirty smoke stained glass of the sky light gives the room an errie presence..cold now is the masive hearth that not long ago brought forth warmth and security...silently the shadows move to a fro across the hard plane of the floor..yet echo each step you take, what ghosts walk these floors? One could imagine that they are skirting the ragged rim of reality once inside...It's hard to believe that just short of a year could make a place feel so alone and forgotten...Fairwell my old friend it is better I remember you in the light of day....

How ya'll doing, I aint been on the boards to much lately....been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest...so I'll fill ya'll in on what I've been doing for the past 6 months...back in March I slipped by this ol' place..and it nearly busted my heart strings...I stayed away for a short time then slipped back up the hill to just remember ol' friends...and maybe see if there was any "wild root" left..well the mice done got the cigars and vandles busted up the booze and the mirror...so I decided I would fix the ol' Place up and see if it would turn a bit better than it has in the last year and a half...the junks been removed the yards have been redone the floors are polished (thanks Libby) the bar brass is spit shined...7 coats of spar has got that old mahogany looking rich and alive...the bar is stocked the stoves are ready for use the "Pit" is de-funked (had to chase 50 or so of them flying furball out of the flue)...the mounts have all been refurbed as was the hot tub and pool..so I think this is about it...what I'm tring to say is....watch for the Super Grand Re-Opening, coming to a thread near you very soon...

I find myself wondering down an old, nearly abandoned trail, thinking to myself, "this path sure looks kinda familiar". Have I seen this in a dream, or have I been here before? I see an old dead tree that looks like it used to be the home of some type of flying critter. Around the bend, I pull back some brush that has overgrown the trail, and what do I see? why, it's the Newbie Mountain Lodge! I have been here before! Man, time has not been kind. The windows are all boarded up, the roof is in disrepair, the shooting range is full of mesquite, and the road is completely gone.

I force the door open and walk inside. I find the old lantern, and am surprised to see is still has oil. Light it up, and am almost impressed. Besides several large cobwebs and a good layer of dust, the place looks almost exactly like I remember. I walk over to the bar, and find the secret lever.. I give it a pull, and the hidden door slowly opens. One look inside tells me nobody ever found this room. A case each of scotch, whiskey, vodka and rum, exactly where I left them.

All of a sudden I hear the sound of something moving outside. Is someone trying to sneak around? I run outside, grabbing an old bat by the door. There's someone hiding by the trees! "Show yourself" I demand! As he steps from the shadows, I see my old friend Two Tails! He mumbles something about lousy barkeeps being lost and never heard from again, and says he's been keeping an eye out for signs of life around the place we all called home at one time.

We walk inside and dust off the bar. I open a bottle of scotch, pour a couple of shots, and say "Lets fix this Lodge up".
