Report: Bill would set an 8-year path to residency

By ALICIA A. CALDWELL Associated Press The Associated Press

NOTE: NO MENTION OF SECURING THE BORDERS Typical Obama, He wants what he wants ONLY!  There should also be a part in any bill that states future illegals will not be given this amnesty or route to citizenship!   ILLEGAL ENTRY NEEDS TO STOP and NOT BE REWARDED!!!

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is circulating a draft immigration bill that would create a new visa for illegal immigrants,(Note: Not a Work Visa-Because then they would need to hold a real above board job to stay in the US),  living in the United States and allow them to become legal permanent residents within eight years, according to a report published online Saturday by USA Today.

President Barack Obama's bill would create a "Lawful Prospective Immigrant" visa for the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. The bill includes more security funding(Where is this $$$ coming from, NOT THE ILLEGALS)and requires business owners to adopt a system for verifying the immigration status of new hires within four years, the newspaper said.

USA Today reported that the bill would require that immigrants pass a criminal background check, submit biometric information and pay fees to qualify for the new visa. Immigrants who served more than a year in prison for a criminal conviction or were convicted of three or more crimes and were sentenced to a total of 90 days in jail would not be eligible. Crimes committed in other countries that would bar immigrants from legally entering the country would also be ineligible. (Hmmm. But entering the country illegally is a FEDERAL CRIME, working under the table is a CRIME and TAX EVAION!!, not including how many used FALSIFIED DOCUMENTSor STOLEN IDNETITIES).

Those immigrants facing deportation would be eligible to apply for the visa, the newspaper reported. Immigrants would be eligible to apply for a green card within eight years, if they learn English and U.S. history and government, and they would later be eligible to become U.S. citizens.

Last month a bipartisan group of senators announced they had agreed on the general outline of an immigration plan. For his part, Obama has said he would not submit his own legislation to Congress so long as law makers acted "in a timely manner." If they failed, he said, "I will send up a bill based on my proposal and insist that they vote on it right away." (Looks Like he lied again.. Oh Yeah.. This Bill was LEAKED!!! Common problem in his administration!!!)

Clark Stevens, a White House spokesman, said Saturday that Obama still supports a bipartisan effort to craft a comprehensive immigration bill. "While the president has made clear he will move forward if Congress fails to act, progress continues to be made and the administration has not prepared a final bill to submit," he said in a statement.

Sen. Marco Rubio, the Florida Republican who has been crafting immigration legislation, derided the draft bill as described by the newspaper as "half-baked and seriously flawed" and said it was disappointing because it repeats what he called failures of past legislation. He also said the White House had erred in not seeking input from Republican lawmakers.

"If actually proposed, the president's bill would be dead on arrival in Congress, leaving us with unsecured borders and a broken legal immigration system for years to come," Rubio said in a statement.

Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, described the draft bill as a "very moderate" proposal. While the path to citizenship was welcomed by Noorani, he said not enough attention was being paid to future immigration.

"Commonsense immigration reform must include a functioning immigration system for the future," Noorani said in a statement. "Reform does not begin and end with citizenship and enforcement alone."

11 million newly made Democrats... has such a nice ring... doesn't it!

Sure is putting a lot of pressure on the numbskull Republicans to cave in and get their fair share.

That is how good democrats are rewarded for their support!

The rest of us get  rising taxes, broken promises, less freedom, and threats of imprisonment for not obeying their wishes.

Just as he wants universal background checks to register guns, instead of enforcing the existing laws; he's ignoring the fact that there already exists a Federal law for employers to validate citizenship and legal status prior to employment. Once again, why have laws if they aren't going to be enforced???????????  Besides, he knows damn good and well, that the illegals aren't going to accept an 8 year process.  La Raza and the other organizations will demand instantaneous citizenship rights, with no qualifying requirements.

Land of the free? Senator says immigration stats show welfare rules not enforced

Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions is accusing the Obama administration of failing to enforce a century-old law meant to prevent immigrants from taking root in the U.S. only to live on the government dole -- after the administration reported it did not cite anyone for this last year.

This is insanity as they have government offices here that encourage the illegals to come in and get signed up for all the benefits. They are getting SS, SSI, welfare, food stamps, the whole list of benefits all without paying a single penny into the system. Now we see there is already a Federal Law making it a crime for them to get the benefits yet the government is helping them do just that ! As I said this is insanity at it's very definition. The hospitals here also give each new mother over $2,000.00 worth of items when they leave the hospital after having their baby's and of course they pay no hospital bill either. I am as most know a 100% disabled Veteran and when I have anything done I still have to pay my co-pay when they file my insurance. Until WE THE PEOPLE all stand UNITED and tell the government no more and mean it will continue to foot the bills for all the illegals as well as letting them bankrupt SS. Everybody keeps asking " Why is it so expensive for hospital stays ? " well folks the reason is WE THE P[EOPLE have to pay for those who either don't have insurance or like the illegals the ones who get care and don't pay. The system is broken, they know what is breaking it, there are laws against it, and yet they are doing absolutely nothing to fix it or stop the crimes.

Yet another violation of Federal Law that will not impact their path to citizenship.

So the ones already here illegally will benifit, while the ones that are still in their home countries will still average a 10 year wait to immigrate legally. Somehow this doesn't make sense.

None of it makes any sense as it is being done by the government. My neighbor had to wait his 8 years before he could come here to live and of course had to pass the test they give. I know another who had waited in his country for years AFTER applying to come here. His own country actaulyl held a yearly lottery for those who had applied and if you got drawn you got to go to the front of the waiting list. He won, came here, worked, went to college, and has now become a legal citizen and has his degree in psychology. He has brought his wife and children here now and they are now proud homeowners, as well as having new vehicles to drive. Both of these men are proof that you can do everything legally and be welcomed and successful. The ones here now illegally are criminals by the very definition of the word which still bumfuzzles me as to why they themselves and our government don't understand this point.
