Court rules against using wolves for Nat'l Park elk control

Images A federal appeals court sided with Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park in a dispute with an environmental group that contends wolves should be reintroduced to control the elk population rather than leaving the task to volunteer hunters. In ruling on the suit brought by WildEarth Guardians, the court said rules governing hunting in the parks allow the killing of animals that are dangerous to humans or detrimental to the park. Denver Post.

what gets me is people don't understand this has nothing to do with the good of the wolves. these people couldn't give a chit about the wolves! it's about furthering thier agenda to take our guns.wolves are nothing but a fund raising tool.

What always amazes me is that these groups leave out the apex predator when it comes to elk and that is the mountain lion and let's not forget the grizzly bears. It takes a pack of wolves to bring down a mature elk but either a mountain lion or grizzly can do so by themselves. A study on collared wolves showed that several were killed by a mountain lion or grizzly after a kill had been made and the others took the kill from the wolves. The wolves when examined showed they had been killed by a single bite to the skull by a mountain lion and from either a broken neck or back by a grizzly. The combination of the mountain lions, grizzly's, and hunters are plenty to keep the elk herds in check. I would like to know how you get to be one of the volunteer elk hunters ??? The reason I ask this is the last I had read on this they were paying " sharpshooters " ( their words not mine ) to thin the elk herds.
