My wife and I participate in a fund raising event for Special Olympics called the Polar Plunge. We dress up in costumes and jump in an outdoor pool. In the past my wife and I have gone as Disco Queens as evidenced on my donation page. This year we are team Cow Pies, one of us will be the Cow and the other the Pie.

So here is my offer  – I have a Life Member jacket, brown  leather, Large, in very good shape. I do not wear it and it is taking up room in my closet.

I will send my jacket to the highest bidder with a catch – the bid is in the form of a donation to the cause.  The bids can be here in a post or sent via PM. The plunge is on Jan 26 so I will close the bidding on Jan 20 at 12:00AM, Pacific time.

I will contact the winner in the morning of the 21st to make the donation. When I verify the donation on the web site, I will mail out the jacket. I will even pay for the shipping.

Let the bidding begin.

Weeg, do you know how that large translates into a numbered size? I wear a 44/46 jacket. From what I've read over the years, that leather one has been the one that is the most coveted by LM's.

On a side note. Here in Minnesota the many snowmobile clubs get together every year to put on a snowmobile ride for the kids of Special Olympics. A friend of mine from work is big time into snowmobiling, so much so that the trail groomer his club owns is parked at his home year around when it's not in use. His club cooks the lunch for the ride every year. To help raise money for the Special Olympics the clubs sell raffle tickets. Last year I bought 5 tickets@ $5.00, and won a $400.00 tire package

Lunker, mine is an XL, and I wear a 48-50, so I'd think a large should be about a 44. If there is a Burlington Coat Factory near you, they used to carry the same identical jacket(of course with out the embroidered logo) and theirs retailed back in 2000 for $350.00, which is what my LM cost back then. I figured the membership was at least worth the value of the jacket. I still wear mine and it looks as new as the day it arrived and that's pretty damn good for a Chinese made Leather jacket!!!!!

Sorry, I have no idea how the size correlates to a number. I like the snowmobile ride idea. This is the 4th year for me doing this event. I got involved when a co-worker, who is a basketball coach for Special Olympics, asked me to jump.

I like the jacket but I just don't wear it. I figure this way someone gets a good jacket and Special Olympics gets a donation. I will try to post a picture soon.

Weeg, I had another thought. In your initial post you mentioned that someone could bid here, or via PM. Are you going to post the PM bids here so we know if we've been outbid?

Also, I'm a bit reluctant to post this, as I don't want to seem to be ripping on you. But I couldn't help but get a chuckle over the idea of a polar plunge in AZ. Here in MN for a polar plunge they take a chainsaw and cut a big hole in the ice of a frozen lake for the plunge And no... I've never taken a plunge

I'll bid $50.00 for the jacket.

Thanks for the opening bid!

I will certainly keep this post updated as to the highest bid. I put the PM as an option so people could remain anonymous if they choose.

True, “polar” really doesn’t apply here though it does get cold (20's) in January, it’s not the same. We did a similar event in Wisconsin and that was cold!

Tybee Island, just outside of Savannah held their "polar plunge" on New Years Day. Last year when they held it they made the Guinness Book of Records for the most people wearing a bathing cap at a single event (or something along those lines). They claim to have people come from all over the world to participate.

I believe I have this pic on file from an HHH auction, if my memory serves me right, this one was a medium.

Every Spring I take mine to a local leather shop that does repairs and sells leather goods. I have them to clean the jacket and then they put a good quality leather treatment on it and it is so soft now as well as is now waterproof. Great jacket and LD you got it for a good price.
