I went ahead and put it up, those who wanna use it can, those who don't.... don't

http://www.mapservices.org/myguestmap/map/nahcmap

You'll see my marker there - hover over it and it will show my icon (albiet fuzzy) and town. Go ahead - find my house, or any other info from that...

It's a bit of a pain to actually zoom in to any detail. I just entered Poughkeepsie, NY as the address and took that. Now if you had 50 people do the same thing, for say New York, NY as an example, then all of the icons would be overlapping and no one would be able to see anything so putting some distance between any other folks who happen to be close may be a good idea.

There can be up to 500 markers on the map for free and I left the security measures off for the time being, but if markers start showing up in the middle of oceans or something, they will be deleted and the captcha codes will be turned on.

Use it or not, your call

Gee holly - how do you go about contacting the club?

I'll send them the link to the thread and if they choose to - fine.   It only allows 500 marks for free, then I think it's 50 bucks a year if I recall correctly from the Corvette map I used to host.

We were up there with some friends in '06 in July and had a fishing trip scheduled but things kicked up and with waves at 15-18', the small fishing boats weren't going out. That sucked, but man - what a State. We want to go back sometime if we can ever afford the airfare. ;-(

You guys are very welcome - hope it comes in handy or at least informational.

The Corvette map I setup gets used when someone's traveling to see if there's any other folks along their route that they may want to stop in and have a beer or soda with to be able to put a face with the name. I've since passed that map on to other ownership but I believe it's still going on strong.

Actually, the admin screen has 52 grandpops.   I asked webbie to pin this to the top but apparently that's a no-go for some reason.

I did change my marker to a pic of my ugly mug.   If anyone else would like to do that or change your marker, send me a pm with your marker name AND comment field.  I'll delete the current one and then you can re-mark with a new marker image.

It's also a good idea to include your town and state in the comment field. That way when someone goes to the "Message Board" tab on the page, they can see your handle as well as the city and state where you are. Otherwise, trying to find someone is a nightmare.

There can be up to 500 markers on the map for free (we're about 20% of the way there) and I left the security measures off for the time being, but if markers start showing up in the middle of oceans or something, they will be deleted and the captcha codes will be turned on.

TTT for new folks.

I was asked how folks could delete/change their markers. Sorry the answer is, you can't.  Well, you can for an hour after placing a marker but after that, the only way to delete it is to have me do it. Makes no sense to me but that's the way the software works.

So, if you want your marker deleted for some reason, moving it, changing the info, whatever you can PM me or send me an email  smcalvin at verizon dot net  and tell me your 'handle' and what you put into the comment field for the marker so I can get the right one

Fred, you're there. I don't have a clue where though 'cause you didn't fill out the town/state in your comment field but there is a Grandpops entry with you on a motorcycle for the icon/marker. You can prove it to yourself if you go to the "Message Board" link on the bottom left of the page and find Grandpops. It also let me add more markers so I have no clue why you can't.

I thought there could be 500 markers on a map but it looks like they reduced it to 100 so I think that's the problem. I sent them a note. Hopefully, I'll get a reply. I'll post back.

rt4: you "is" the only one in SC? None in Ga. and only three in Fl. I had to open the map just to check. Maybe mine is not showing everything.
"You" showed us you were not prejudist the first time around. Now you showed us you are stupid and voted for him. Hello Idiocracy! N. Florida red neck

Unfortunately, I think they capped the maps at 100 markers. I've emailed them several times and no reply. About the only thing I can think of is to have multiple
maps? But I can only host one. It's a one per email address kind of thing.

Steve,  what is the trick to allow others to post their locations?  The link I posted only allows me to open it.  Thanks for your assistance.  Maybe we can get at least another 100 LM locations on the map.
