Hi guys.. It's Tonya.. i just got off the phone with Brian.. Everyone needs to pull together and say a prayer.. That "tube" that came out the other day has started an infection that has spread to both lungs. He is now on oxygen at full blow.. He is talking good for a short time then it gets hard to understand him after a few minutes. Tomorrow he is having a catscan to find out more. They have asked to hold back on phone calls to him or miss kathy. Brian does have his lap top so he can answer messages when he is online. Miss Kathy will call me tomorrow after the catscan is done and give me an update as to where he stands.

He had catscan this morning to assess lung infection but no results yet. Talked to him about an hour ago, sitting up beside bed. They collapsed one lung for surgery and have separate drain tubes on them. Both seem to be draining fairly well. He is on antibiotics and didn't sound too worried about this latest issue.
He was griping cause they would not give him his cancerr free esophogus back to make a deer grunt out of....

Nope, just Addison and of course I had to call Ol Abe over to the phone so she could tell him "HI" too!
He sounded good yesterday. Hoping to get temperature and infection under quick control so he can get out of prison and go home before end of week.

He got home around 6:30 night before last and is way more happy....nurses coming by to help with feeding tube and his "happy shot". He sounded great when I talked with him yesterday but he still has a long recovery period.

Just found this on Face book:

I just got off the phone with brian... he sounds like brian.. =)
he talks good for about 10 minutes then i tell him i have to go because you can hear it in his voice, gurgling and loss of breath. he doesn't remember much about the other day other than miss kathy yelling at the dr and the dr yelling at miss kathy and him standing there looking at himself laying on the ground out cold. i assured him miss kathy probably wasn't yelling at the dr and vise versa and in fact they were yelling at him to wake the hell up.
anyway, he saw the big doc. the problem with the tube is the fistula connected the two.. the air and the food chambers, so he was just filling himself up with fluids straight to the lungs. ( mind you, this is brian telling me this, and he is on happy meds at the moment )
i told him i would pass this info on, and he said thanks tell everyone the dr says he has no choice he will be ticking people off in no time.. however, its looking like another 2 to 3 days before they evaluate him again if he can go home or stay for another 3 days. the pneumonia has him coughing really bad.. if he happens to start calling people because he remembers their phone number, and you are one of those people.. try not to stay on the phone long.. you can hear it in his voice when he needs to stop talking and get air. and you know him, he will just keep talking so take note.. ♥
i'll have another update when i hear from miss kathy =)
keep the prayers up guys n gals..

Brian has been posting on the EDH site, just about everyday, for about a week now. He appears to be doing much better, and chomping at the bit to actually bite and chew a real meal instead of having it run through the food processor and fed through the feeding tube. He did say that the turkeys will probably get a break this spring.

Everyday-hunter.com was started during the big ruckus a few years ago, after sonnyone, quailman, captain bill, and others were banned. It's free, and many of us who are active here are also over there. Bear03 also has a site that quite a few of us are on, it's the American Sportsmens Alliance, and new members are always welcome ( it's also free).

WOW!!!!! I fina;;y get the strength to stay awake long enough to come see you folks here and find this. THANKYOU ALL MY FRIENDS for the prayers and warm wishes. They are working. The biggest obstacle I face in only myself right now. I go back to the Dr on April 3rd and HOPEFULLY get the go ahead to eat at least some soft food. Right now I'm allowed to swish juice or water and spit it out. I've been walking around the block and looking at the shop. By the time I get set up right now, it's time to go rest so we just take what we can do and go with that.
THANKS AGAIN for all the prayers and support,
Brian

I can tell by the way it feels that my throat is closed up alot.MAY have to let them knock me out again and stretch it. Good news is that back in Jan the Dr said it would only be need one stretching. Of course this is the guy that said I should be healed up nd ready to go for turkey season opener.

I don't know you, except from your posts, but I am glad to hear your doing well brian.when my dad had his surgery that first year was rough,he had to have his throat stretched every month or two for that first year.It has now been 6-7 years and he is able to eat most anything he wants,(still has trouble with lettuce and grapes and doesn't care for anything cold) but he is doing great.still praying for your recovery.keep up the good fight

Meanwhile, LilBit will continue taking him on walks...

For crying out loud! I've been away from the site for awhile and you go and get sick. Sooner or later I'll get back on track, get my butt retired and then? Who knows, I might show up on your door step looking to crash for a night or two. Then we can chew some jerky, shoot the sheit and whatever pops up. You just keep fighting the good fight my friend. I've got my calls put up for the grandson, the ones with his picture under the top. Great keepsakes. Hang tough pal!!

Hey, Brian, good luck with them x-rays tomorrow. Gotta love it...hurry up & wait for them darn results. Ugh!
On a lighter note, took my 1st turkey with the bow yesterday morning using one of the 1st box calls I bought from you!!! He was gobbling before daylight, let him carry on until about 5:35 and started using the call. That did it...now he was real fired up and came in on a string towards my decoys. He came in so fast I almost dropped the bow off the ground bow holder!! Thanks again!!

Took my daughter out turkey hunting with me a couple of weeks ago. She was using the double-barrel slate/glass call you made for our NWTF banquet. She had never used a turkey call before, but had a couple of toms gobbling back to her, but they wouldn't cooperate enough to offer a shot.

HI FOLKS. Been in the hospital this week monday through wednesday, but I'm home now. Went in Monday to get my throat stretched open so I could start eating again. It turned out to be so closed up that they had to keep me in and use a heart cath type thing to find the way through. They then left the wire in until wednesday when they followed it down to open it up. First thing eaten was a bit of vanilla icecream. Today..a scrambled egg, cup of noodles and mac and cheese. Not alot but not bad after 4 months of nothing. My stomach seems to have shrunken...It took 1 egg to fill me up.
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE PRAYERS AND WARM WISHES....they REALLY do work...:-)

Chatted with him yesterday afternoon after Doc visit. Doc thinks fistubla will close on its own without further surgery which would be major...that's the good news. He will have to stay on feed bag and tube for at least another month. Also throat is closing up again like a kitchen drain pipe so back to neck stretcher Doc probably next week. Other good news is he is maintaining his weight well and is only a few pounds from prime fightin weight.

Just now hung up from talking to Brian.
"How you feeling , Bro?"
"With all ten fingers"
He is getting quite frustrated as no appointment has yet been made to assess throat stretching again and he is not swallowing well at all. Gets the Grandkids cerral with milk down and Icees without gin or vodka down but not much else.
He is currently supervising Miz Cathy cleaning and filling the Gator Proof Pond for LilBit and LilMan.

Brian, wow it sure has been a long time my old friend. I have not been on here for a very long time. I have often wondered about you and how you were doing. Now I see you are still around. That is great to see. I was talking with Dale Cordell a while back and asked if he had heard from you. He said that he had not. I will have to let him know that I saw you here. I should be on more often now. You take care.

Stretching will be next thursday morning folks. In the mean time, I'm running the blender and putting all I can through my syringe and feeding tube. My weight is down and I get winded/wornout pretty quick but we're getting by. Y'all can call if you get the mind to. Still not in the shop yet but I been giving it that "I miss yiou" look alot lately. I wear out in about 15 minutes right now so not much is gonna happen anyways...LOL

Andouille is a course ground spicy smoked sausage that was French in origin brought over to the States through Louisiana . It's most often associated with Cajun cooking. Eat this along with beans and it will give you gas. I know this for a fact, My wife’s best friend married a Cajun. And the man loves to cook. Go for a visit and you will eat some of the best food that you have ever tasted in your life. “I Guarantee”
(You have to say the last part with a Cajun accent.)

It's the beans, not the andouille   And as for “I Guarantee” ... I loved watchin' him.  (I'm the cook 'round these parts)
