We seen some sign but never spotted a bear. Not sure if it was just too hot or what. Going back to try again at the end of October. Hopefully we'll have better luck.

I don't know how far you're willing to travel but I have seen a huge black bear in the 667 area. I saw it about a month ago near the Deschutes river. There are lots of tracks in that area of bear. This area is not open to motor vehicles so you'll want good boots or better yet, mountain bikes. The roads are very well maintained. There are a few water holes and a couple creeks but this guy was going down to ear berries and have a drink . I was about 500 yards away when he smelled me, turned and with 2 strides was across a 16 foot wide service road and disappeared. PM me if you want an exact location.
