Hello everybody, I know hunting season is a few months away - but I want to start scouting the area and hopfully meet some people in Virginia to hunt with. I bowhunt, but not opposed to firearms, I have a centerfire 30-06 Remington and in the process of picking a shotgun.

I am a responsible individual, early 30's and easy going. I live and work in Arlington, but pretty open to travel around the state for a good hunt. I've hunted in central and western parts of the state, and although I look forward to finally get me a nice buck, I believe it is most important to enjoy the adventure; love camping out and making a weekend out the hunting trips.

Hit me up and lets get outside, you can reach me a nova.hunter at yahoo dot com

If you're in Arlington you should check out hunting FT A.P. Hill near Fredricksburg. I've hunted it quite a bit and there is an awful lot of deer and turkeys on it. The military training cycle takes precedence over hunting but you can usually get on it. Place is pretty big too. Something like 45,000 acres if my memory serves me right. Used to be able to hunt bear on the base but I don't think they allow that now.

There is good hunting at Fort A. P. Hill. I run equipment tests there and have seen lots of deer and turkey. However, I would not hunt there because of safety concerns. On numerous occasions, I have found hunters on active test ranges and not in the hunting areas to which they were assigned. One guy was using a building on our test range as a deer stand. If these guys can't or won't stay where they are supposed to be, I have concerns about what kind of hunters they are and if they are the type who shoot at noises. That being said, my neighbor hunts there and has harvested some nice deer. Just be careful.
They can have my guns when they can pry them from my cold dead fingers. A man with a gun is a citizen, a man without a gun is a subject.

I will do Belvoir too, they have a sweet outdoor archery range to practice there too. Hit me up if you want to go sometime. For bear you have to go west man, mainly GW forest/national park
