It passed the Senate 28 - 5. Now it has to go to the house for a vote.

Word up here is it is all but a done deal. There is (once passed) legal protection for us now if we work someplace and leave out gun in the car locked up. However, this does NOT keep employers from having policies against it and using disciplinary actions against employees for breaking policy regardless of laws. So, it is not perfect but it does protect the employer's property rights as well and we just have to accept that private property rights are every bit as Constitutional and Conservative to honor as 2nd Amendment rights.

Thanks to our fellow TN member, John Harris for working so long and hard on this! When we broke the back of the TN Dem Party several years ago it has allowed us to finally get pro-gun bills moving that the Dems had shut out of votes for decades. It is not happening as fast as we'd like but it is happening.

Ron Ramsey implied that Governor Haslam may have some reservations about signing the legislation. Guns are not Gov. Haslam's big thing. I hope he DOES sign it, we'll see.

I heard that as well. Haslam is BIG business oriented so that is his view on it. What he will do is let it become law without signature I think. He doesn't want to get vetoed by his own party, and doesn't want to anger the business lobby that he closely associates with being big business himself, nor does he waish to anger the pro-gun majority of TN so he will just allow it to come into existence without pomp.

Haslam should do a poll and find out how many truckers will take advantage of his stations and lots if no firearms on premises were to be enforced!

Shi, I understand your concern about property rights but as far as I am concerned the right of self defense comes first! Indemnify the property owner but do not keep me from protecting myself on way home!

The addition or clarification that does limit a property owner's liability of someone else harms someone else while on their property would take care of it but that is not in there right now. I carry regardless and figure that the only way good guys or bad guys alike will ever know I am armed is when MY gun is the least of the property owners' worries. And we are already protected by the carry laws there now because even if you are carrying in a posted place, or carrying without a permit TN laws protect you from anti-gun statutes if you use the gun in defense.

I foolishly did not carry all the time even tho permitted. After Auroura Movie, I carry! Period!

The most stupid of laws and there are many, may be the one that says my eldest cannot carry in his truck because he has a HazMat rider on his CDL!!!

Yep, we are all still in the house. Literally can't afford to go anywhere. Separated our debt to income ratio with the house there is keeping us from qualifying for any loans and I can't even get qualified to re-fi the Equinox just to remove her from the title. She wants off it so she can clear up her debt to qualify for a townhouse. But the credit union can't qualify me to re-fi since I am shown with the entire house mortgage on my credit unless I co-sign her which is the whole reason we want to re-fi it. We are trapped in it. Got a realtor coming up Thursday to see it and start the listing process. Have to get $370k to break even on it. But we have to pay the realtor a commission and will have to dump gravel on the drive and have it grated before it can even be shown. So we have to try getting up around $400k to cuchion the blow.

Thanks Tom. The paperwork is all filed so the divorce should be finalized the week of Memoiral Day. She is not contesting it and I'm agreeing to her plans. She is not vindictive so she is not requesting anything other than the basic State-ordered child support plus enough to pay 1/2 the kids' private school tuition. We both agree that they need to stay in their school no matter the costs. Since she makes like 2x what I make no alimony is needed from me and she is going to get a nice townhouse right near the kids' school. That suits her better since she always dreamed of a high-rise fancy apartment in a city - not a log house atop a rattlesnake-infested hill in Middle TN. ;-) She has removed her ring and is appraising it in a fancy jewelry store in Chicago today and may sell it but has not decided. She un-friended me on Facebook even. She says now we are no longer married except legally and I can go do what I want to do.

Right, in LOTS of various nefarious activities. And it is best to be able to honestly forget as well. They have a hard time proving things if you really do not remember where you buried the bodies, right? ;-)
