Nice! My wife just got our family's first tag for zone 4 in November. Have to do some scouting trips this summer, Baker Lake in the AM for Muskies and scouting in the afternoon!

My oldest son got a cow tag in the same zone about 10 years ago.  We did it in 3 days.  It was a 2 year old.  this time, I'm hoping for an older larger cow.  Oh, yah, I'm sure I can share some with my friends.  That means you guys!!!

yep that sounds about right...just don't call'em "moosie" that hurts their feelings and they run away...couple of years ago a fellow I know fell in a muck hole and made some sort of high pitched "noise", the fellow he was hunting with said he screamed like a li'l girl..but anyway, he was dang near run over by a big cow moose...said she busted out of a thicket and stopped about 2 feet from him...s'pose he was still making that noise cause they said she turned and ran right back into that same thicket...no one got a shot at her, his gun was in the muck and I guess they (guide and his buddy) were laughing to hard....saw apicture they took of him just as he climbed out of the hole..looked like the Swamp Thing...covered with mud and grass and all sorts of other mucky looking stuff...head to toe...watch yer step and your back trail...

We are in Maine.  I think the power has been restored to our home too!!!  We haven't seen any moose yet, but Sunday we can't hunt anyway so off to the gravel pit for some target practice...

Luck was with me.  We found this young buck feeding and he wouldn't leave, so I got out of the truck, loaded my firearm, and shot him.  Weighed 127 lbs.  Early afternoon we found this good size moose, she weighed 510 dressed with a calculated live weight at 663 lbs.  Both are at a butcher shop that vacuum packs...

This is the toughest moose meat I have ever eaten.  Next time, I will NOT let a butcher in Maine touch it.  I could have done a better job with an axe and a blindfold.
