There is a processor on the main drag in Toponas at the gas station. I don't know if he is good or bad, but you could get it de-boned at least. We stop in every october and he is usually pretty busy cutting, so it looks like a lot of guys use him. Toponas is just south of Yampa.

There are several in Kremmling, several in Steamboat Springs and there used to be a guy in Yampa that cut meat during the season.

I hunted the area in 2004 and took 3 elk to a place near Yampa. The name was "Hamer" or Hammer meat processing. It was a couple of mile from Yampa going west towards the Flat Tops. We used him just for cold storage but he cut meat too. I don't know if he is still there, I cant find the # yet. I heard there was a good place in Steamboat springs too but haven't got the info yet. We stopped by the place in toponos but we did not think to much about the cleanliness of it back then. I'm heading back this sept and am trying to find a place to store or cut meat again and also looking for somewhere to get dry ice or big block ice any where between Yampa and Steamboat.
Thanks and good luck hunting

I had one done in Steamboat and they did a great job. Trouble is, I don't remember which one did it. Now that you have me thinking about it, that was 14 years ago. Man I'm getting old!

I'll start a new thread but I'll throw this out here too. Anyone know of another processor near Walden. I had one done by the guy from the grocery store that does wild game on the side. I used to do a better job. Just can't physically do it anymore.

I live in Hayden, 20 miles from Oak Creek. I process my own meat but buy beef and pork and have my hogs cut up in Craig and Brothers Custom Processing. They do a great job with that and the meat I buy from them is excellent so I would guess they do a good job. I believe an elk cut and wrapped is about 250.

There are some really good bulls this year but it seems to me the numbers are down. I hunt in the same vicinity as J Bar H, down around Morapos Creek. We run into them all of the time during archery season with pack strings on the trails. Good luck
