im just wondering if anyone can recomend any good hog hunting areas i dont already know about im trying to get me son his first pig and my regular spots i grew up hunting are just not working out i would like to get him one before he quits because hes so discuraged

there are no pigs around there. There is a private ranch you can hunt in Tahacipi ( spelled wrong) but you should know where I referring to. ALso there is Cherry Valley Ranch near Riverside. That would be a great place to take him for his first pig. I think it runs about $50.00 to hunt then another $250.00 if you get a hog. That is a good price here in SoCal. It is also the type of place where you can make it an easy or hard hunt..

Not sure if they are still in business but, you can check out Cedar Canyon Ranch in Tehachapi. They are a bit pricey though. There are also a lot of BLM properties in Coalinga. Refer to the DFG in Hollister and they can tell you which ones you can and can not hunt. I've hunted a few properties in Coalinga before with little luck. But there were signs everywhere. Finding them was the problem. One thing about California is that a lot of the pigs that are killed are from private properties...the majority are with ranches that charges a leg and an arm for it. Well, anyhow, good luck!

One more thing, you can try your luck at Fort Hunter Leggit. The base is open to the public on the weekends on a first come first serve basis and has the highest percentage of yielding a do it yourself pig hunt on public land. There is only a small entrance fee though. There is also a website full of good info. Google it.
