IM new at this and need some advise. Is turnips and sugar beats good to plant when i already have alot of clover on my property .

I've never planted sugar beets, but I always plant turnips in the fall. Deer don't usually hit them until there has been a couple of good frosts that bring the sugar content up. Besides, I always get some to cook for myself after the roots develop into a good size.

not sure on sugar beets, but turnips are best for winter. Deer will actually dig them up during winter to eat them. never planted sugar beets though. i'd think thats a early season food source not good for winter. turnips will last all winter in the ground and deer will dig them up early spring the following year.

I believe sugar beets are much more fussy about soil conditions ...ph and water than turnips

Unbelievable, but the deer are mowing the turnips down, and the coolest night we've had has been down to 58 degrees. I'm not going to have any left for myself, much less the deer at this rate!!!!! I've never seen them eat turnips this early in the season!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday they cut the 200 acres of corn around us...pulled the card this morning and they are hitting the Ground hog radish that flows into the turnip brassica plot.....that then runs into HSG and clover

All 14 of my plots already look like someone mowed them, but I've been watching both deer and turkey still feeding on them, plus I've been getting some good trail cam pics, as well. BTW, don't you wish the Moultrie cameras took as sharp a picture at night as they do in the daytime? I've got three of them out, but my cuddeback is one of the older flash models and it takes fantastic pictures.......in color........night and day. I wish I had about 4 or 5 more of the cuddebacks.

All my radish and rutebega fields are all down the stems and bulbs, once september hit my plot went from a big leafy jungle to stems.
